Why would you give money to a campaign?

I hate robocalls. Everyone does.
When you donate to a campaign, you're buying robocalls.

It makes no sense to donate to a political campaign unless you're donating a LOT of money, because what you want is access to the candidate to try to influence him on issues that matter to you.
$50 ain't gonna get that for you. Hell, $50,000 won't do it for you, when you're talking about anyone that actually matters.

Sometimes you get personalized emails, but basically yes.
I was invited by an acquaintance to his campaign kickoff. I showed up, they took my contact information and check and then I didn't hear from the guy again. I did get plenty of emails requesting more money or asking me to help in the fundraising efforts.
