People in this country die at home more than anywhere else. Second place is nursing homes and third is hospitals. Why would anyone give a fuck?

It's called a stigmatized property in the real estate industry.

People have refused to buy homes if there were deaths in it, especially suicides. Homes have also been stigmatized if there was a gay couple living in it, or if the previous occupant had AIDS.

The opening lines from the (original) movie, "The Haunting", " [first lines]

Dr. John Markway: [voice-over] An evil old house, the kind some people call haunted, is like an undiscovered country waiting to be explored. Hill House had stood for 90 years and might stand for 90 more. Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there... walked alone."

So this is the 21st century version of a haunted house? So people use this as a bargaining chip to beat down a seller on the price. How much could you expect to save if the house had a corpse in it for a few hours?

Stupid.

Of course, no matter how creepy deaths in a home are, it can always get worse.

http://www.theledger.com/article/20110615/NEWS/110619621?p=1&tc=pg

http://abcnews.go.com/US/snake-house-family-home-idaho-turns-satans-lair/story?id=13851600

When they bought the house, the Sessions signed a document that noted the snake infestation. They said they had been assured by their real estate agent that the snakes were just a story invented by the previous owners to leave their mortgage behind.

They soon learned that nearly everyone else in this tiny college town knew the snakes were real.

Among locals, the property is known simply as the “snake house”

But the young couple soon learned they would be sharing the home with reptiles at least two feet long that had crawled into seemingly every crevice.

That's when he realized his family was probably living atop a garter snake den where the nonpoisonous reptiles congregate in the fall and winter.

"One day, we caught 43 snakes in total and that was it. The next morning I almost stepped on one in our house and I had enough, we can't do this anymore," she told ABC News. "I don't know how we stayed there as long as we did.

I'd pay for it. I find the thought of living in a home where someone died - in any manner - horrifying. I recognize that this is not necessarily rational.

Would you buy a house or rent an apartment where a serial killer lived? Imagine going into the basement knowing that's where he kept body parts.

The Haunting: " [last lines]

Eleanor Lance: [voice-over] Hill House has stood for 90 years and might stand for 90 more. Within, walls continue upright, bricks meet, floors are firm, and doors are sensibly shut. Silence lies steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House. And we who walk here... walk alone. "

They could never do anything with Ted Bundy's house, they bulldozed it recently. So, no.

I've always wondered what happens to an apartment complex when a meth lab is discovered in one of the apartments. Meth labs are declared HAZMAT sites, and meth lab homes are torn down, and cars with meth labs in the trunk are considered totaled.

So, do all the tenants have to move out of the apartments, or is that one unit just walled up?

....or a home where the person died in the bath tub in the summer, or where the person was a skeleton under the bed sheets.

Ever heard of immurement? It's where a person is executed by being walled up. If you've ever read Cask of Amontillado you know what I'm talking about.

Medieval castles and homes are still being discovered with skeletons in the walls. They also use to sacrifice infants and cats by burying them in the walls as a form of protection.

Why do you need to tear down the house?

....or the elderly widows/widowers that keep their spouse's corpse in the home for years so they can still collect social security.

All the chemicals used in meth production are highly toxic and flammable. When the police remove evidence from a home or car they always wear CBRN gear.

I saw a story about these people who made millions by starting their own meth lab cleaning business.

I remember this story from over 10 years ago.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/795103/posts

http://www.sptimes.com/2002/11/22/news_pf/State/Mummified_bodies_leav.shtml

In 2002, a welfare check on a home revealed a mother, son, and dog dead. According to the expired food and calenders, they died in March 1999. The air conditioning had been left on and it naturally dehydrated and mummified the bodies. The woman had the power bill automatically paid by her checking account every month.

The home had a lien on it because of unpaid taxes. It's sad because no one noticed the piled up mail or the unkempt yard.

I know a guy that works for one of those companies that cleans up murder scenes and suicides and such. They got a job where a guy had died in his bed and was in the non airconditioned house in August for like 3 weeks before anyone found him. He said the dude literally melted thru the bed and onto the floor.

if you are also living with someone with colo/rectal cancer then its advised you throw away evrything they have touched and or spray down with water chrorline mix to santize.

Yeah, it's funny when you see movies or TV shows and a skeleton is in perfectly good clothes or sitting in a car with clean upholstery. The human body is highly acidic and it disintegrates fabric.
