Thank you Obama

Just got word that effective January my already overpriced health care costs are skyrocketing. Monthly premium goes up over 60% to $667/month -- and, even worse, my deductible goes up to $6000!

Can you imagine having to shell out $667/month and still have to pay out of pocket for the first $6000 of my annual health care costs?

...

Thank you, Obama.

Hmmm. I pay $675 per month for family coverage, and the deductible is $0.

Is that through your employer? Or through one of the Obamacare exchanges?

Mine is through my employer. I wish they offered better coverage, but it's only getting worse. What I quoted above doesn't even count my co-pays.

I'll have to look for another job.

No easy task there either. Thank you for that too, Obama.

Yep. Just got word - yesterday 4p. And only after I contacted HR to inquire about it. HR said they'll be going with a new provider next year and gave me the particulars of what my new coverage would cost.

There's a real world out there. And it isn't easy-going.

Thank you Obama.

Ah, so it's your HR Department's new provider decision that's the real cause of your angst. Have you considered switching employers?

So why blame the ACA for something so unrelated?

It's true -- my friend cannot afford the $1700.00 per month for his family under Obama care -- His deductable is $7500.00 -- so he and his wife will be paying the IRS penalty monty ever year -- a charge for which no goods or services are exchanged -- Very constitutional wouldn't you say?

You don't seem to understand that when your sorry ass walks around uninsured, the rest of us have to pick up the cost of your care when something happens. The IRS penalty helps to offset that cost so, yes, goods and services are exchanged. And, by the way, we all pay taxes at one time or another which we don't receive a direct benefit for. Sometimes we are net takers, and sometimes we are net makers.

It's your fault for not taking good care of yourself.

Stop smoking!!! That will cut your insurance cost in half.

I pay $230 a month and that covers pretty much everything, no deductible.

shop around that is a bad deal. Checkbook has a good side by side comparison. If you go to an HMO you will cut your costs in half if not more.

So who do you think is paying for all of the subsidies that +80% of people in the exchanges receive? And the costs for all of the added coverage requirements?

Just a different way of paying.

Leading insurance company UnitedHealth said on Thursday that it expects to take big losses on its Obamacare health plans, and it's pulling back on marketing 2016 plans. The insurer revealed it may exit the exchanges that sell those plans in 2017 because of fears that it won't be able to make money.

Obamacare observers said that UnitedHealth's announcement underscores financial challenges facing insurers that sell coverage on Affordable Care Act marketplaces, challenges that could lead to less choice and higher prices for exchange customers if UnitedHealth bolts the exchanges, and if other insurers follow suit.

A third video emerged Wednesday of MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, insulting voters and suggesting their ignorance was exploited by those pushing passage of the health care law.

Neither the White House nor Gruber would comment.

In this one, Gruber was discussing how then-Sen. John Kerry, D-Massachusetts, pushed forward a way to add a tax on expensive health insurance plans, or "Cadillac Plans," that would purportedly tax the insurance companies though Gruber suggests everyone knew the companies would just pass on the additional cost to customers.

"It's a very clever, you know, basic exploitation of the lack of economic understanding of the American voter," Gruber said at the Honors Colloquium 2012 at the University of Rhode Island.

The moment is at about 29:25 in this video. The video was first reported by The Daily Caller.

Over the weekend, media first became aware of a video of Gruber making a similar remark -- that the unintelligent voters were hoodwinked by those pushing passage of Obamacare, which was in his view for the good.

You are an idiot then because you are not actually on ObamaCare but on an employer provided plan which is subsidized by your employer. The amount you are paying is based on the amount your employer is willing to subsidize.

Reminder: The House version of PPACA had been passed at the end of July 2009, while the Senate bill had been passed just before that year's Christmas break. Scott Brown was elected in January 2010. You are a useless braindead stooge.

By the way, "U, Duh Peeples" have nothing to do with actual government at all. Every so often, you get to vote for or against a very small selection of candidates for public office. That's the only involvement you have. Like Muslim cartoon protesters, you can manage a flash-mob march in the streets when told to, and some few of you are actually capable of writing crudely reasoned letters to editors, lawmakers, and others in power, but at the end of the day, nobody actually cares what you think. The job of government after all is to represent your interests, NOT your stupid worthless dumbfuck opinions. The founders deliberately designed this government to keep the terminally stupid riff-raff out of things. It's like they knew FOX News was coming. You can go sit in the corner and sulk now.

P.S.: Pelosi's "we have to pass it to see what's in it" remark was in reference to the ginned-up cacophony of moron "death panels" and similarly dismal and media-orchestrated right-wing whining that was making it impossible to have a rational public discussion of what was actually in the bill. In the end, she was wrong though. PPACA was passed now more than five years ago, and worthless dumbfucks like you STILL have no idea what's in it.

My employer-subsidized insurance just went up $140 a month for my share. It was a great plan that had minimal copays and no deductibles. As long as I stayed with in-network care, I paid almost nothing.

The biggest increase I ever had prior to this year was about $45 a month. I had this plan for over 10 years. Just switched to another plan with another company for about the cost of my last plan, but with shittier benefits.

Thanks Obama.

Come on, dumbass. "Obamacare" is the word that Republicans stupidly tried to attach to PPACA as a way of ridiculing the program. All they've done of course is attach a permanent reminder of who it was that finally got us onto the path of a national health care program. As with Social Security and Medicare, Democrats will be reaping benefits at the polls for generations.

Meanwhile, everyone is now on Obamacare. No matter how or where you get medical insurance, it is now under the scope of PPACA. Get used to it.

This is my third year in Obamacare. Just get the cheapest Bronze plan available and consider it "catastrophic" insurance. It's stupid to pay $900/month (individual plan; white male; no subsidies) and try to meet a $4,500 deductible; save $500 a month with a $10,000 deductible plan.

Obamacare is designed to make you feel the pain of minorities.

The good news is our HR people are telling us to expect even bigger increases and deductibles next year. This is only the beginning.

The ACA is the law of the land. Virginia doesn't get to not adopt it. WTF are you talking about?

Reminder: Neither body passes laws alone and neither of the bills were complete. That's why they had to ram though the Senate bill in its half-assed reconciliation form. The actual bill was not passed by the House until March.

Peloisi's stupid comment was just another of her long line of regularly made stupid comments.

Unless you're receiving subsidies that's actually the best approach assuming that you don't anticipate much in the way of medical expenses. All that you're doing in most cases with the more expensive plans is buying down your deductible and guaranteeing that you will pay whatever difference in the cost rather than risking that you'll have that same cost.

If you have ongoing medical issues that you expect will cause you to spend more than the net out-of-pocket all counted, then the reverse is true. You'll spend it anyway and may benefit from better prescription and other coverage.

I'm a 48 year old forever Virginian, and I've paid for my own insurance since 1989. I used to get a good catastrophic plan for when I was in my 20s and early 30s.

I went to the doctor a total of 2 times in 14 years, both for an inner ear infection for which I needed antibiotics (by the way, I already knew what I needed, and could have bought my own penicillin, but for the obtrusive government rules; that's another debate for another day). It was very affordable ($38 per month to start; 14 years later, it was about $120 per month).

I hear from friends/clients in their 20s and early 30s now telling me that they're just going to opt out and pay the penalty. The premiums are absurd. Obamacare doesn't allow for catastrophic care only. Everybody has to pay the same premium.

I, as a male, have to pay for ob/gyn services. Twenty-two year olds have to pay for geriatric care.

This is the bullshit of Obamacare, and the Democrats' plans for our Country. They want total control of everything. I've heard Democrats say that we need to regulate the amount of meat that Americans eat. The absurdity goes on and on.

Rest assured, compared to Hillary, every one of the Republicans is hands-down a better, more accomplished pick, to get rid of the insidious scourge of the Democrats.

The bozos don;t actually know what they are talking about. They simply don't like Obama, so they race to say bad things about him and the horse he rode in on. Little children, basically.

Most likely a small company - businesses with less than 20 employees make up 90% of the employment in the US. These business do not have 'open enrollment' as the government and large employers do. They have 1 plan - in or out. You get your costs, you get to decide.

I am employer, and here's what we went through this year:

- Delayed being in an ACA-compliant plan till Dec 2015 - very last moment possible
- ACA minimum requirement for employee subsidy is 50% of the premium - went with the minimum
- Dependent subsidy has zero requirement - so you employer could pass along the entire cost of your spouse and kids to you - went with about 33% subsidy. Will probably drop it next year.
- Kids 0 - 18 are all the same cost, kids 18 - 26 go up in cost by year

Here's what happened:

- Singles with no or young kids saved $ in the switch to an ACA compliant plan - not much, but still a but cheaper
- The older people with college age/<26 on plan got killed. Like 30 - 50% increases. Seems the "keep you kids on your plan till 26" is actually really expensive, since your "children" that age start having kids, etc. Had some really difficult discussions with older employees - none of them saw it coming

What I see coming is a point in the next year or so where we say "Here's the value of your subsidy - it's now in your base salary" and we get out of the insurance business. Which I think may have been the point of the ACA anyway.

Women in the infantry . Are these people crazy or not? A woman has not been born who can succeed in the US Marine Corps infantry- hell 80% of the men in this country can't . But obama and that fucking idiot Ashton Carter don't care - it is not their daughters who will be gang rapped and throat slashed by ISIS.
This country is truly fucked and fucked up.

That's hw insurance works, eh? When you buy automobile insurance, you're paying for shitty drivers and old folks. Insurance isn't just averaging your costs against the risk YOU represent, it's averaging costs across the risk pool. That's kind of the definition of insurance.

Just sayin'.

Thus endeth the lesson.

Rightards destroy, Democrats improve. If something is broken, you can die as far as Republicans are concerned.

Choosing Republicans to fix something over Democrats is like choosing Africans over Mexicans to do a roofing job.

Sure you could give it a shot but odds are you won't get the same results or any at all.

LOL! Large and small businesses each employ about 50% of the workforce. But the dividing line in that case is at 500 employees, not 20.

Pretty much just kicking out the moron Bush-fucks and then trying to repair the horrific damage done by eight years of miserable Republican disgrace and failure. Mission accomplished.
