Obama Speaking in Paris: Mass Shootings ‘Don’t Happen in Other Countries’

While giving a press conference in Paris, President Barack Obama told reporters that the mass shootings that plague the [57] United States just never happen in other countries.
“With respect to Planned Parenthood, obviously, my heart goes out to the families of those impacted,” Obama said in response to a reporter’s question. “I mean, I say this every time we’ve got one of these mass shootings; this just doesn’t happen in other countries.”
For those living under a rock, the city of Paris itself was just hit with a series of simultaneous terrorist attacks. The majority of 130 deaths were in mass shooting attacks, where the ISIS-affiliated terrorists attacked public places with automatic rifles. Nearly one hundred people alone were killed in just one mass shooting at the Bataclan theater.
Earlier this year, Paris was also the victim of a terrorist attack targeting the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists wielded assault rifles, killing 11 innocent people.
Obama, to his credit, seemed to realize what he had just said. After a deliberate pause, he suddenly pivoted to an explanation about how the United States was aiding France in the fight against terrorism:

Other countries get bombings on a regular basis. The United Kingdom and Australia have a knife crime epidemic. People will always find a way to kill each other no matter if firearms are completely banned.

The number of mass murders by citizens against citizens with firearms like we see at PP and schools just doesn't happen in other countries. There is gun violence but is usually political or tribal or warring factions, not some kid with access to guns who just wants to kill as many people as possible.

First of all, he was talking about the Planned Parenthood shooting. You guys like to cite all of the multiple shootings involving things like people being shot at disputes at parties or while being robbed on campus by people from off campus in "school shootings" and anything else you can throw in when doing the stupid "domestic terrorism" comparisons. And the left is specifically calling the PP shooter a "domestic terrorist." Now they aren't comparable. lmao

A lot of the "mass" shootings are related to the trafficking of drugs. If you had one organization handling all drug sales, violence would go way down.

Don't know what you're considering 'major' but 'mass shootings' are defined as those involving 4 or more people. The vast majority are drug- or other criminally related incidents. Mass shootings by some deranged person for no apparent reason otherwise are very rare in the scheme of things.
