If the UN really wanted to make a difference....

Why not have the global community come together and build a nuclear power plant in India....?

India has a huge population, and granted they are not perfect - they are not a terrorist hotbed like the middle east....

So have the US + Europe + whoever else wants pool together on a new, safer nuclear power plant technology --- research technology can be validated or disproved...The whole process will benefit the world as other countries can implement lessons learned...

During construction, have India send (and pay for) its best engineers to be trained at the best facilities the global community can offer so they can maintain the power plant.

Have India pay for advisers to not only construct the power plant, but also teach their best builders so in the future they can build their own.

Strict regulations will be imposed: India can only use the technology for purposes approved of by the parties who contributed to the project.

In return - India will be able to provide reliable electricity the millions of their people who do not have it...and from there they can begin to build a modern society....

With the vast population that is India - they become a major contributor to the global community....

Forgot to mention - obviously the build site would be in a position that is most efficiently defensible, and India would pay for whatever defensive forces are needed to defend the facility (the return on investment would be...more than adequate)

We can put a nuclear reactor in a submarine --- and in an underground ice fort....how hard is it to put a simple one in India?

Pretty soon we'll have nuclear powered home backup generators....

Eesh you forget the leftist don't want to bring people out of poverty --- this whole post is a testament to bastardization of the idea of the UN...

UN = United Nations = the global community coming together like neighbors to help each other out....

bullshit - right now they're more worried about internet regulations......while the Middle east burns and India's vast population lives in poverty....

The whole point is: how hard would it be to put a little power plant in India - and allow their obviously intelligent population to make a better lives them for themselves....

Instead we peddle them windmills and solar panels...
