The US should annex Somalia

Somalia wants to play on the international stage again. No way. For all the trouble they have caused (pirates etc.) they should be annexed. Maybe each country who suffered from their piracy takes a role in it.

The place has nice beaches, let's make some money off of them instead of letting them sell khat and whatever.

Somalia would also be a nice base of operations in case we had to explain things to those clowns at ISIS.

Funny, the first thought that came to mind when I started reading your post was, "it would be great to be able to fish the seas off the Somali coast" without fear of being kidnapped and held for ransom. Yes great beaches and a great local should we ever get tired of being ISIS's bitch. The ensuing tourism would pump dollars into the economy and help the people be self sufficient. Win win.

US has bases in Somalia already. Somebody has to fight the militias the US and NATO arms and trains. NATO was implicated in another gun-walking scheme in Somalia several years ago.

There is a fledgling legitimate government in Somalia; it controls half of Mogadishu with the help of the US.


We should annex Iraq and make it the 51st state. Rename Baghdad to Obamagrad.

Not a bad idea! After all, it IS a republican paradise. I mean, think about it:

The ultimate in small, powerless federal government; you can own all the guns you want; not social safety nets; no socialized health care; no burdensome environmental regulations; gay people can be openly persecuted; you can mix religion and government; and basically everyone has to lift themselves up by their own bootstraps.

It's PERFECT for Republicans! Well, except for the black people.
