If Trump Deports All the Illegals Will the Cost of Labor Double in the US and Kill the US Farming Industry?

CNN)Republican frontrunner Donald Trump said Sunday he would overturn a law that grants citizenship to people born in the U.S. and put stricter limits on legal immigration, offering his most detailed account yet of how he would handle a policy issue that has become a cornerstone of his campaign.

Trump, who has repeatedly been pressed for specifics on his immigration plan since the issue rocketed him to the top of the polls, also explained for the first time how he will force Mexico to pay for a wall on its border with the U.S. in his nearly 1,900-word policy paper.

The proposal could help Trump swat away naysayers who charge that he is not a serious candidate. It also gives Trump an opportunity to burnish his conservative credentials, particularly as he is coming under more heavy fire from conservative influencers.

Simpson-Mazzoli provided a nice loophole for agricultural workers.

Both Alabama and Georgia kicked illegals out and then came crying back for illegals when their farming businesses went bankrupt. American won't work in fields picking crops.

Guest worker program - problem solved.

Nope, they didn't "come back crying." They just shifted what they planted to crops that don't involve manual labor. From the original article vs the propaganda link you posted written by a devout libtard living in Africa. lol

"On nearby Chandler Mountain, another prime farming area, Jimmy Miller said he cut back on produce because of possible labor shortages and instead planted more cotton and peanuts, which can both be harvested by big machines called combines that require minimal labor."

Bullshit they didn't "come crying back." They ran to the state house and asked for subsidies to support their farms.

Shhhh!!! You're not supposed to say "guest worker". That might work so let's
just pretend it couldn't happen. The proper term is "Temporarily Undocumented
Registered Democrat" or TURD.

The crops are rotting in the fields! The crops are rotting in the fields!

The mantra of the millionaire farmer who wants slave labor and his sidekick, the shitlib who wants to import impoverished Aztecs to vote for his political party.

Posting some random link on the subject doesn't help your argument. That doesn't say anything about Alabama farmers running to the state house to ask for anything.

Now if you want to put your mad Google skillz to good use, go find the stats for tomato production, acres planted, and crop value by year for Alabama.

As typical, the lib talking point sites 'forgot' to mention what actually happened is that hiring went UP with authorized workers replacing illegals. As it did in various other similar cases examined.

See page 7:

https://www.numbersusa.com/content/files/BGovEVerifyStudy.pdf

Quote

Known as H.B. 56, Alabama’s sweeping immigration law was signed in June 2011. Among other provisions, it required that employers confirm new hires through E-Verify by April 2012. This government action prompted anecdotal reports of farm workers fleeing Alabama, leaving behind unharvested crops, such as tomatoes and sweet potatoes. 20

Note: NAICS 111. 2012 data are preliminary. The shaded area reflects the period when the state's mandate took effect.

Figure 3 shows that employment trended lower immediately after the law was enacted. Employers then added more crop production workers in the months before H.B. 56 took effect, when compared with the same period the year before. That growth in crop production jobs was among the largest in the nation. This study hypothesizes that authorized hires probably filled the jobs of unauthorized workers who had left the state. 21

They appear to have been replaced with legal immigrants.

Quote

Alabama's new immigration law has apparently driven many undocumented Hispanic workers from the state's poultry plants and farm fields but isn't quite achieving the goal of sponsors who said they had hoped to put native Alabamians back to work in their place, according Bloomberg's Businessweek com.

Employers who struggled after the law passed to hire and retain U.S. citizens are now turning again to immigrants, this time refugees from Africa and Haiti. Most of these immigrants are legally in the country, often recruited by labor brokers, according to the report.

Alabama state Sen. Scott Beason, R-Gardendale told Businessweek.com that he wishes the Alabama employers were hiring state natives but suspects the immigrants are proving more popular because they work for less.

The problem is if the cost of workers in the US goes up then US consumers will just start buying from foreign farm producers.

The next thing that happens is we have all the farm states crying for federal farm subsidies.

What's hilarious is the real estate business is heavily invested in illegals.

As usual a conservative, Trump, is shooting himself in the foot.

Already do. Look at the produce labels next time you're at the grocery store.

No matter what we pay here, it will almost always be far less costly to produce elsewhere. The only factor in pricing is how to get it here in salable condition and the mega-farms in Mexico and Central America have had that all figured out for a long time now.

When it comes to immigration Dems sure become savage capitalists. Almost Ayn Randian in their desire for "hard working, cheap labor". They denounce lazy Americans and fear slight increases in the price of apples as if a plague will descend on our collective homes

It's almost as if they care more about importing voters than their own stated principles of helping working class Americans.

Weird.

I'm a conservative and I'll keep cheap labor for cheap food in the US. As long as the people come here and work cheap I'm fine with it. Just don't bring crime and pay taxes like everybody else.
