We won Ramadi not once but twice.
Both were hard fought battles that took a lot of guts, blood, and treasure.
Neither would have been necessary if Bush's envoy to Iraq - Paul Bremer - had coopted Saddam Hussein's Baathist National Police, Army, and Republican Guards by leaving them in place under new leadership before claiming Mission Accomplished.
Instead, Bush/Bremer alienated them and kicked them to the curb.
They then fought a Civil War against the Shiites and the US, and have reconstituted themselves twice to challenge us, first as Al Qaeda in Iraq, beaten down by the surge, and now as ISIS, who now holds large swaths of not only Iraq but also Syria.
Republicans really know how to fuck things up. Jesus - 54 votes against Obamacare and they are now all signed up for Obamacare. 9 Benghazi investigations and they never proved shit other than they defunded Dept of State Security funding which was the real Stand Down Order.
Obviously, from a military doctrine perspective, Republicans can take the ground, but they can't hold it or govern it - they just shit the bed over and over and blame - well in the case of Ramadi - all the US troops that gave it their all, got wounded or died, still conquered the territory, and then Republicans handed it over to ISIS.
Republicans - not special ops, just special ed. warriors who take the short bus to the battle field.
