Slavery and euthanasia - apples and oranges. And a sensible approach to end of life care is not 'death panels'.
Carson's comments on Obamacare are just typical right wing blather. But he is spot on about the hopelessly ill or mentally incompetent at or near the end of their life. It is an enormous burden on the health care system, but it is also needlessly cruel to prolong someone's life when they have no quality of life. If you doubt that, visit a nursing home or Alzheimer's facility some time. A lot of these people (the ones that spend at least some time awake) think they are being held captive against their will. That's often a function of dementia, but it's also pretty much true.
