Stuart Scott, a longtime anchor at ESPN, died Sunday morning at the age of 49.
So Im reading some of the sports blogs this morning and many people are refering to this guy as a "hero". WTF? He was a sports talking head. Nothing more. I guess because he's black we have to treat him in death like he was A Nobel Prize winner or Ghandi.
It's bad enough that uneducated couch potatoes refer to players as heroes, but when they start calling ESPN talkers heroes, well that is just too far. Is it any wonder this country is in such a shit storm? People under 35 have no clue what a real hero is.

I wouldn't call him a hero in the traditional sense, but its obvious he inspired many different people for different reasons. For me, it's as if some of youth has died. I grew up watching those guys on SC.

A hero is someone who voluntarily puts their ass on the line for another person or a cause. Stuart Scott (RIP), and many others like him, wasn't or aren't heroes. They may be inspirational to others, which is totally different

Like was stated, most people don't have a clue what a real hero is. A hero is a cop or fireman or doctor or a soldier. Not some fucking stuffed suit who babbles about sports on TV.
When some idiot calls a football or basketball player a hero just because they can throw a pass or score a basket I chuckle.
Stuart Scott was a badass, great sportswriter. I remember getting up for high school and watching him on sportscenter with Linda Cohn and Rich Eisen. Sad story, but he fought that bitch named Cancer for a long time. RIP SS.
