RG III find a good mechanic and take care of your cars and pay off your house - you are going to have to live off of interest income the rest of your life. You made enough already to coast the rest of your life unless you are an idiot. Dont do to your life what you did to your football game bro...

I disagree. If this is the case then why do so many pro athletes end up broke and bankrupt? Because they spend it as fast as they get it.

"why do so many pro athletes end up broke and bankrupt?"

That used to happen a lot, but not so much with athletes who hit their prime starting in the early 2000s, when the money for pro sports got so big even stupid people had a tough time going bankrupt. http://www.firmex.com/blog/when-did-athletes-start-getting-rich/

Current average earnings, NFL: $6.7 million, NHL: $13.2, MLB: $17.9, NBA: $24.7.

"Robert Griffin III signed a 4 year / $21.12 million contract with the Washington Redskins, including a $13,799,344 signing bonus, $21,119,098 guaranteed."

I think the signing bonus is separate from the guaranteed contract (?). It would be damn hard to go broke from a base of almost $35 million.

You seem to have completely forgotten about Uncle Sam, his agent's cut, and a money hungry wife.

Agent gets 30-40% Tax man gets 40% of the 60% Griff gets so he should still have several Million in the bank. He also got some scratch from Subway. If you have 6 million in the bank and your house is paid off you need never work for money again. You could get 100-150k income per year with conservative investments

...and the $3Mil house he bought in Creighton Farms on the new Nicklaus course. He'll get 80 cents on the dollar reselling that customized home.

Three million dollar home at age 24 with year in the pros - what a dummy. With upkeep he will be selling that baby and taking a bath very soon
