I don't understand, the final fight is 2 to 2. And in that round they spar a bit and then Johnny punches Daniel in the face, a legal target. When the ref brings them back to the line I believe he says "no point - clash" slashing his arms in an X type mark.
Why was this point not allowed that would have won the match? Was this a blooper that went unnoticed amongst all the dirty antics by the Cobra Kais?
ffwd to 2:16, score is 2 to 2. JL hits Daniel with a right punch to the face,
earlier before the tournament Daniels gf says "you can hit the head or the sternum but not below the waist.
They both hit each other in the face. The winning blow was a kick to Johnny's face. The puglistic lesson here is not lead with your face or to charge into someone's kick. You see it too much in the Karate Kid movie.
The taekwondo in Kk was laughable. No defensive posturing, no guarding. Being a 3rd degree black belt makes you notice these things. I guess the same can be said for the "boxing" in Rocky. Wide open stances, unprotected charging, etc.

Ummm
These were movies made with actors. Not real. Sort of like the Reagan presidency.
