Scenario: The Earth is dying and you have three choices
1. Stay on Earth with most of humanity in floating cities.
2.Live on the Moon (in a well established city network) or
Mars (less developed)
3. Upload your consciousness into a bank on a large vessel
destined for the other side of the galaxy.
Which one do you choose? And why?

The whole idea of "uploading your consciousness" is stupid.
Your consciousness is immanent within the three pound chunk of meat that exists between your ears. It's an inherent property of the brain, an inseparable side effect of its functioning.
When you upload a file, you don't physically transfer that file. You make a copy of it on a remote computer. The file still exists on your computer and the copy now exists on the foreign computer.
The same thing applies to uploading your consciousness. All you'd be doing is making a copy of yourself that would exist in whatever magical black box you used for the purpose. You would still exist, and you would die with the Earth while the copy was sent off on the voyage across the galaxy.
