Ted Cruz Has 16 Hours Left to "Renounce Canadian Citizenship before the End of the Year."

Just one (short) form stands between Sen. Ted Cruz and his status as a former Canadian citizen.
Cruz, who recently discovered that he holds dual Canadian and U.S. citizenship, has said he will renounce his Canadian citizenship to take away any potential doubts about his allegiances.
“Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and, as a U.S. senator, I believe I should be only an American,” the Texas Republican said in a statement in August.
Months have passed, but the issue has yet to be fully resolved, Cruz acknowledged to the Dallas Morning News in a recent interview. He has, however, hired a lawyer who will work on the paperwork to start the renunciation process, Cruz, 43, said.
So how does one get rid of a Canadian citizenship?
Canadian immigration lawyer Richard Kurland said the process is easy, fast and, generally, doesn’t require a lawyer (particularly because Cruz is a Harvard-educated lawyer himself).

The process is a little harder and a lot longer than they are making it out to be. Cruz is a natural-born Canadian. He might be American, too. It depends on the law in place at the time relating not just to his mother's citizenship, but her length of residence inside and outside the U.S. He still has not released HER birth certificate. BTW if Cruz claims to be American, he could just as easily claim Cuba. He wasn't born there either, but had one parent who was.

Maybe he needs someone to loan him the $100 CDN processing fee. Or maybe he can't actually prove he is an American citizen. Not one so called self proclaim patriot on the right has stood up and said Ted Cruz needs to keep his promise to this country.
These are the same people that like to call America their own.
Imagine if a dual citizen Democrat had made such a claim. That he was going to renounce his Canadian citizenship and then procrastinated until he decided if he was going to run for president or not.

It just isn't going to work. If Ted writes a check today for $90.69 and sends in his form, by the time the Canadian government cashes the check the exchange rate could be different. Ted, being a frugal Republican, doesn't want to overpay and being an honest Republican, doesn't want to underpay. Since he is busy with Congressional duties he doesn't have time to personally travel to a foreign land just to renounce dual citizenship. Ted also can't send $100 CDN cash because it wrong to send cash in the mail and Ted obeys the laws.
I really feel sorry for Ted. Trapped between two countries. The horror of this situation. How could this could happen to anyone in this day and age is unimaginable. The mental anguish and suffering he must experience every day.
