3 day weekends are not fun in Chicago.

• From Thursday night into Friday, three people were killed and 10 others wounded. An attack outside a West Englewood salon left two men dead and an East Garfield Park shooting took the life of a 21-year-old woman.

• From Friday afternoon into Saturday, 20 people were shot, one fatally. The man who died had been flashing gang signs in a parking lot in the Clearing neighborhood when someone told him to stop. When the man didn’t, he was shot, police said.

• From Saturday night into Sunday morning, four people were killed and another 10 wounded.

• The bloodiest stretch of the weekend was a 13-hour period between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 3:30 a.m. Monday when four people were killed and at least another 26 wounded, many of them in critical condition. And the most chaotic scene was in South Chicago, where three people were wounded during a running gun battle.

Good. Let 'em wipe each other out.

I did read one article that stated the vast majority of the victims were black males between 16-25. That's just the group we need dead.

NRA must be so proud now......... I'm sure Jesus is preparing a special nice warm spot for them NRA types.

I suspect most of the guns were stolen by the nig nogs committing the crimes. Or they traded drugs for them to another nig nog who stole them. Either way, they were obtained illegally because criminals dont obey laws. Pretty simple.

Or more likely straw purchases, gun show purchases or improperly stored weapons. I am curious how well armed people get their guns stolen? I though the whole point in owning a gun was to stop criminals, not arming them.

It's what prevents Indiana and downstate Illinois from becoming a bloodbath. Oh, wait...

a city like that up north, no farming 1/2 year round and so far inland, more relies on things today easily stolen (ie, technology for sky scrapers, factory floor layouts) and also on relationships , lie tool orders (easily backs could turn and go to china)

thing is that Chicago is a city of many people. failures in relationship would blight too many and for no good reason

Blame weak gun laws for holiday violence, Chicago's top cop says.

McCarthy, reciting the criminal histories of several of the suspects in this weekend's violence, noted gang members face tougher consequences for losing their guns from their gangs than from authorities.

"Possession of a loaded firearm -- it's not even considered a violent felony in the state of Illinois for sentencing purposes -- which is why you see the revolving door," he said.

Among the suspects: a man wanted in connection with a murder who has 21 prior arrests, and another with six previous arrests, including one this year for aggravated assault for discharging a weapon.

"How this individual is out on bond is beyond me," McCarthy said.
McCarthy said police will continue a summer program to flood high-violence areas with police, but he said that without stronger gun laws, police will continue to face an uphill battle.

"These offenders need to be held fully accountable for violent behavior to prevent them from ending up back on the street too soon," he said, adding, "There's too many guns coming in and too little punishment going out."

That's idiotic. Why would possession of a loaded gun be considered a violent felony? Making excuses for his own failure.

And ignores the fact that possession of an illegal gun, particularly by a minor, and discharging a gun definitely are illegal. As are all of the other 21 FUCKING ARRESTS. But, yeah, let's blame that possession of a loaded gun isn't a felony as the problem. lol
