Individuals who request deferred action must have:
Continuously resided in the United States from June 15, 2007 (last five years) to the present
Been physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, as well as at the time of requesting deferred action from USCIS;
Entered without inspection before June 15, 2012, or had any lawful immigration status expired on or before June 15, 2012
None of which applies to these arrivals, moron. They're coming because of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.

I think it does. As I understand it, what this law does is provide that a juvenile illegal immigrant from certain central american countries who makes it across the border can't be immediately repatriated back, as Mexican and other kids can. They have to have a hearing and be evaluated for asylum, and if they have relatives here (which most of them do) they have to be released to their relatives pending the hearing. In other words, they can under this law legally remain in the country for two years in most cases.

Claiming deportations are down in recent years and failing to mention the decline in border crossings in general. These child crossings are something fairly recent.
There's also a lot of talk about Border Patrol cases being turned over to ICE, allowing them to be counted as deportations. If they crossed the border or attempted to cross the border and were caught in the act, detained and returned then that's a deportation.
