You know how boring this site will be without those guys? Maybe try posting on Popular Science if you want some metal stimulation.

I think this forum could be great with some slight moderation. Not even censoring I guess, but moving the political bullshit to another subforum. The problem with finding a forum in this area is that city-data.com is full of pussies and psycho moderators, and this site is full of the type of comments that you'd read on a a yahoo news story.

Actually, probably the easiest way to fix this site would be to force compulsory registration and enforce one login per IP. That way trolls couldn't take multiple personalities just to fuck with people.

The problem with city-data (okay, one of the problems) is they have just as many outright assholes as this place. And as you say, you can't just tell them to go fuck off, even though that's what's plainly called for. Further complicating matters are the cadres of biased moderator-assholes who simply delete content that they don't personally approve of. Whole threads get raped in one great sweep of content-based discrimination and censorship. But the right-wing eastern European owners do OWN the place after all, and can do whatever they like. Even if that's being biased frauds and assholes themselves.

Anything on the same internal network would have the same public IP. So unless you were using your cell phone's modem or your tablet had a modem, they'd all appear from the same place. You can always jump on someone else's (plenty of free wireless networks out there), but that would require effort. Who really cares enough about trolling to plan a trip to another network around it?

They could also use proxies of course, but again, that's another step that the average dumbass troll won't do.

Finally, getting a new IP on your home network usually involves running out the dhcp lease (which are set anywhere from 12 hours to 7 days depending on ISP), or changing the MAC address of your bridged network connection (frequently the WAN uplink on your firewall or router), which is only supported by certain models and is again.. something the average troll wouldn't bother with.

I do, and you can see my above response. You're just adding an additional step that makes the drive by trolling involve more effort, which is like a filter for all but the most dedicated assholes.

You would use the cell phone network as opposed to your home wifi. Different ip. Easiest way to troll is to make my phone into a hot stop, and use the LTE network to post, as opposed to my regular cable.

This is really easy, 10 minutes to download any VPN software, and 10 seconds to connect to a server. This is the ideal trolling way.

With cox you have to call them up saying your internet is not working, they reset the modem from their side and you get a new IP.
