Pot legalization not the tax revenue booster it was claimed to be

I fail to see the logic behind legalizing weed. It's been proven to cause cancer and lower IQ and correlates with all sorts of terrible social ills.

It also doesn't reduce organized crime activity since they'll just smuggle other illegal drugs.

Now the supposed tax revenue benefits of weed legalization have been shown to be a grossly exaggerated lie pushed by the pro-drug lobby.

God knows how much productivity we'll ultimately lose when you combine all of the side effects caused by creating a society full of potheads.

It's a slippery slope anyway. People demand legalization of marijuana, then someone will demand that meth be legalized, then cocaine, then MDMA, etc.

Booze is DEFINITELY responsible for all those things...so naturally you are for outlawing alcohol as well, right?

Pot and alcohol are not good for you...but people who want to partake in them should NOT GO TO JAIL!!

Not locking people up for smoking weed saves the tax payers millions.

And Colorado made 2 million in tax revenue off of marijuana in just the 1st couple months!!

Looks like we have a marijuana advocate on our hands. If you like Colorado so much, move there.

You conservatives always want to deny people's rights. Same thing with gay marriage. "If you want gay marriage, move to a state that allows it"...how bout we just stop denying people rights regardless of where they live?

And i got news for you...older people like you will eventually die off and marijuana and gay marriage will be allowed in every state.

Young people support human rights more than your generation.

On the backside, they need to start cutting back on costs of marijuana with regards to law enforcement and prison. Perhaps, they should have early release for marijuana-related charges.

It isn't a question of whether pot is good for you. It is a question of whether the cost of using the criminal justice system to prevent people from using pot is on the whole worse for society than any damage that pot causes.

There is truth to marijuana being a gateway drug. You start off with marijuana when you are young, then you move on to cocaine, then meth, and then at 40 you wonder why you look 60 and have half your teeth missing.

How we are going to keep our prisons full without illegal marijuana? 1 out of six federal prisoners is in on Marijuana charges. Some of those are in one simple possession, which was a third strike. Prison is big business.

The the most common gateway drug is alcohol. And it is not even close.

Come on, weed ain't no big thang.Friggin Tylenol is 10 times more lethal.

Cannabis agrees with some, others not, but why should the folks that don't enjoy it want to cock block for those that do?

I don't know of anyone who ever died from pot, or anyone who even crashed a car when marijuana was the sole intoxicant.

You gun lovers should have every right to bear arms, the admirers of she males should go about their business unmolested, and I should be able to smoke a spliff without any drama .

The government makes a killing off marijuana. The DEA alone rakes in billions. They have already whined and bitched to the Senate (Feinstein) about how terrible legalization in Washington and Colorado is going to be.

The CIA is the biggest cartel worldwide.

States make money from fines. Lawyers make money from clients charged with things as simple as possession. Bondsmen make money from bailouts.

For profit prisons stay full from marijuana-related sentences. These prisons require a 90% "occupancy" rate per contract or taxpayers shell out the difference.

With so many different people who stand to benefit, don't expect national legalization anytime soon, even though legalization is now polled and favored in the majority.

But it's okay for doctors to prescribe amphetamine (speed), opiates and brain chemical altering SSRI's and antidepressants with the flick of a pen.
