BEIJING (AP) -- A group of knife-wielding men attacked a train station in southwestern China on Saturday, leaving at least 27 people dead and another 109 injured, the official Xinhua News Agency said, making it one of the deadliest attacks in China in recent years.
Xinhua did not provide more details about the evening attack at the Kunming Railway Station in Yunnan province, or identify the attackers. Kunming city police said they did not have any immediate information to release about the attack.
Local television station K6 said that several of the attackers were shot by police and that victims were being transported to local hospitals.
The state-run Yunnan News said that the men were wearing uniforms when they stormed the railway station and that gunshots were heard after police responded.
Photos circulating online showed scattered luggage and bodies lying on the floor in blood.
The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear, but China has seen a number of mass stabbings and other attacks carried out by people bearing grudges against society.

I think an autistic teen wouldn't have much trouble slashing children with a knife. They are small and basically defenseless with the exception of their teacher (who would be unarmed and untrained in self defense).

Good thing is that The perpetrators will be submitted to the Chinese Judicial system, guilty as charged and off with their heads. They don't put their photos on "Rolling stone" magazine (Boston marathon Bomber) but maybe "Rolling Head" magazine. (Incidently, I thought they all knew kung Fu.)

If you look at mass attacks events for the US, with plenty of guns and that being the weapon of choice in such attacks, and China where gun ownership is highly restricted and virtually never used (none in any mass events), the casualty and death rates are virtually the same.
US
Events: 33
Deaths: 197 with an average of 5.97/incident
Casualties: 289 with an average of 8.76/incident
Total: 486 with an average of 14.73/incident
China
Events: 17
Deaths: 85 with an average of 5.0/incident
Casualties: 148 with an average of 8.71/incident
Total: 233 with an average of 13.71/incident
Similar for the UK and Canada in events where guns were used but are very restricted.
Moral of the story: You can kill lots of people without guns. Gun laws and restricting access to guns doesn't prevent killing lots of people with guns.

I'll take an extre couple hundred murders a year if the alternative is living in a smog infested hell hole like China. If you weren't aware of this, China's "middle class" is abhorrently poor. Bowl of rice once a day, spend a month saving up to buy a pair of shoes poor.
Their elite are much much better off and the fact of the matter is that those elite are the people that the rest of the world assumes represent China. Frankly I'd rather spend a year in Juarez Mexico.

He fired some shots at the perps than ran away and hid in his squad car waiting for "back up" instead of charging the place and stopping things. Yeah thanks good guys with guns. Even though sandy hook was clearly a false flag, what you have shown in your post is that gun laws are not enforced so new ones won't make a difference. A crazy person is going to kill if they want to.
Everybody in America should have a gun, just like health insurance. It should be mandated that if you can't afford one, everybody will pay their fair share so you can have one. Nah, that would be crazy. That would be like Switzerland.

That likely is part of it. That list includes all of the US' mass events since they are very well publicized and in compiling the list I could find more for China in addition to the initial list used which were not included and there likely are more beyond that in addition to far less open press.
But that's kind of beside the point. Accepting your hypothesis for analysis for the moment, it simply argues against your case and demonstrates that the number of incidents does not correlate very well with the availability of guns. If so, then one would expect far more events in the US given that the delta in the rate of ownership is +100s of millions and the delta in the rate of events is only on the order of ~2X. You can correct for population all you want and it still doesn't come close to making that any better.
Fact is that in both cases such things are very rare events which are driven by things other than the availability of any given weapon. The only point in the numbers above is to demonstrate that in cases where such mass events do happen both casualties and deaths are not significantly different as often claimed.
