It doesnt help to carry a gun if you are a dumbass to begin with. All it makes you is a dumbass with a gun.

I'll continue to carry mine thank you

It does seem odd that someone thinks the government that cant keep anything quiet somehow pulled off this inside attack that would have had to have had 1000s of people in on it and somehow not a single bit of evidence or person has come forward, yet people like you still believe it

I have to laugh at people who think because they carry a gun nobody will every be able to kill or rob them.

Yeah, except for that brother who sneaks up from behind and puts a gun to their head.

There's more of a chance a CC permit guy will off his wife, kid and himself than ever use the weapon for protection.

p.s. y'all wanna pretend the suicide elephant aint in the room, but facts are facts. A gun in the house means that particular elephant gets bigger as well.

If you want to kill yourself then you are going to kill yourself. You do not need a gun to do it. Having a gun in the home and wanting to kill your self also does not mean the person will use a gun to do it.

Just ask one of the many people that hanged or hung themself last year. Or the several that jumped off bridges or cliff walls. Lets not forget the pills, chemicals, helium, grills, etc etc.

Somebody that really wants to kill themself will do it. A gun being used is just one of many tools that a determined person can use. And for the people that want to argue if there was not a gun in a house and the people had to use pills that this allows for a better chance of saving the person...

Somebody who takes pills and then calls or tells somebody what they did is doing so because they want to be rescued or saved. They are NOT trying to kill themselves. They are crying out for help and attention. Mostly attention.

Don't believe me...look back at the two threads in the last 6 months that the family and friends claimed they had no idea the deceased wanted to kill them self but yet they did committ suicide. One used a rope and a tree, one used gravity. Both sad stories and both did it in a way they did not want to be saved. Once you take that leap off a 200 foot drop, there is no changing your mind.

I wished the local police had to release stats on the number of suicides each year and the method used. At least in Fairfax County...I think people would be surpised by the numbers and methods. I do not think guns would be the most used, well not last year at least. Maybe we should be banning ropes from the home.

When you walk down a street and are blocked by 3+ people, SCREAM, YELL, PRAY, BEND OVER, and hope someone helps you/the rape ends soon. WE MUST BAN SELF-DEFENSE. EDUCATION IS NOT KEY AND WILL TAKE A BACK SEAT TO RAPE

Great Gordons back spreading more lies.

First of all medical journals arent criminology studies.

Second of all you left out the part where their conclusions are based off of suicide that has nothing to do with gun violence. People that want to kill themselves will kill themselves it doesnt matter how.

Third of all the US ranks in the 30s world wide for suicide and guns have nothing to do with it. Theres no guns in Japan yet theyre number 7. China is number 6 and theyve also banned guns.

Finally your knowledge in this subject matter is non existent. Are you planning on spamming every thread with bs and then bailing every time youre proven wrong?

My concealed weapon is only openly carried when I draw it from its holster. I've done it twice to protect myself without having to pull the trigger. Lucky so far.

That is the irony of the situation. These gun people claim to be "protecting" themselves and their families when in reality they are doing quite the opposite. It is sad that they are so insecure and ignorant.

I read about the case. The guy had a concealed permit but chose to Open Carry. He was robbed of his gun by one of the suspects, and upon being robbed of it, stupidly chased them. The kid then fatally shot him with it.

Uh...yeah. If you want to kill yourself and have a gun, why use a knife? You presuppose that because they have a gun, they will more likely to off themselves. One does not equate to the other.

Just because someone has a gun, doesn't mean they are more likely to commit suicide. Just that if they decide to commit suicide, they are more likely to use the gun.

I get a laugh out of anybody who thinks because they are carrying a gun nobody will rob them or they'll never get shot.

If that was the case then the ghettos and hoods will not have violence.

It's more likely that the gun owner will off himself or some family member will die from the gun.

Still, just because some people can't handle guns, there are many responsible gun ownwers that do.

And if you're going to use it on someone who's robbing you, just use it.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by six.

"Smith, who was arrested Monday and charged in last week's two killings, was convicted in 2010 of malicious wounding, grand larceny and burglary, according to court papers filed in Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

Tyee Marquel Hamiel, another 16-year-old Richmonder, also faces charges in Tyler's killing but not in Cosby's. Hamiel's criminal history includes convictions in 2007 of grand larceny and malicious wounding, according to court records."

"Johnson, speaking generally about juvenile cases, said it is rare in Richmond for a juvenile to be sent to detention after his or her case is adjudicated."

This says a lot for the criminal justice system. These two animals should have
been in jail for prior convictions in the first place.

No its not more likely that a family member will be shot by the gun. Thats nothing more than a myth.

As for offing yourself, if you want to kill yourself it doesnt matter how you do it. If you jump off a bridge and kill yourself or shoot yourself your still dead. Implying that guns make that more likely or without guns suicide would go down is nothing more than bullshit propaganda

Anyone can open carry a gun here in Virginia.

But the smart gun owners also take advance training .. like classes that deal with weapons retention, situation awareness, and hand-to-hand combat.

It would be bold of me to say that I would have survived this assault from this snot-nosed punk, but I know that at a minimum, I would have probably put this kid in the hospital due to a broken wrist or ankle.

Smart gun owners? No such thing, gun ownership is a badge of stupidity.

What is really stupid is making sweeping statements about something you don't understand.

Perhaps it is too easy for any imbecile to get a license to carry in places like Virginia , and the argument against background checks is pretty lame, but there are a lot of people in the U.S. who are responsible in their use of firearms.

This doesn't include the clowns who shoot themselves or parade around in Home Depot with their holstered Glock in full view.

The best gun owners are the one that you never realized even had a gun, until you break into their home or attack them.

It is certainly better to have a gun and not need it , than to need it and not have it.

For those who choose not to own or carry, thats fine, but don't hate those who do.

Another neo-liberal talking point: equating gun ownership with stupidity.

Only neo-liberals like to resort to ad hominem attacks when they can't argue in an otherwise rational manner.

Why would you pull a gun on someone who is robbing you? That would be stupid.

There is a greater chance of a gun accident than somebody using a gun for protection.

Just don't carry it around my family. I don't want an accident where one of my family members is killed. Feel free to carry it around your family members.

Thank you.
