Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Taliban militants beheaded two children in southern Afghanistan, a provincial governor's office said.

The beheadings occurred in Kandahar province, the provincial governor's office said Monday.

One of those slain was a 10-year-old boy. The other was age 16.

A press release issued by the office said the militants caught and beheaded the 10-year-old Sunday after he had collected food waste from a trash bin in the area of a security checkpoint.

There were no immediate details about the 16-year-old.

The Taliban has not commented on the report.

Maybe the kid refused to strap on a suicide vest and take one for the Taliban.

The only difference between Mexico and Afghanistan seems to be the Americans can rely on drug cartels to off each other with their help because of the natural competition between crime organizations. You don't need to stage false flag attacks to set militias off on a cycle of violent reprisals.

According to the Taliban, the kids were a bunch of freeloaders who didn't pay their fair share of taxes and were milking the system and becoming dependent on free garbage handouts.

Maybe it's the paramilitary squad posing as Taliban. Dumping beheaded bodies around US bases is a popular tactic.

The kids might have been Bacha Bazi that had escaped. It's actually fairly common in Afghanistan.
