I actually saw George Jones sing live at Fairfax High about 30 years ago. We were concerned, that long ago, that his boozing would cut short his career. Fortunately, we were wrong. He was the greatest ever country singer -- better even than Hank Senior.

Im not a big Country music fan, but George Jones is the shoot! He could do all those weepy honky tonk songs, and then do almost rockabilly western swing country. He had a voice. Unlike Johnny Cash.

He didnt care what people thought about him. He either showed up or he didnt. You never heard him running around aplogizing for everything under the sun. He was an honest guy with drug and alcohol problems but still put on a hell of a show.
