Critical Thinking

The threat thread (and others) have me wondering:

Am I correct that we seem to be losing the ability to be critical about the information that we consume, and that we're becoming quite lax in how we interpret it?

I'm not sure if the decay of the educational system - including the No Child Left Behind legislation - is to blame.

Or maybe it's that we're becoming accustomed to watching TV (Fox and the "Liberal" media both included) and being spoon-fed someone else's interpretation with little seperation from the actual facts?

My assumption is that the intelligence level for the average poster here is at least somewhat above the average for the nation as a whole.

And what I see really scares me.
