The 'big lie' of Obamacare has spotlighted the deceptive nature of Obama and progressives and their willingness to do whatever is necessary in order to justify their desired ends. At the same time, the complete debacle of the program launch highlights the practical failings of big government and its inability to deliver on the grand abstract, idealistic promises.

Now they know that he's just another bullshitting politician who believes that they're stupid and need to be manipulated for their own good. Something that even the truly stupid understand, resent, and react to. His practice of lawyerly parsing all of his words just makes him look even more disingenuous when people begin to recognize the technique. It doesn't save you to later come back and say that, technically, you didn't really say what you obviously were trying to make people believe that you were saying. In fact, it just makes it worse.

Which leaves the stench of bullshit on him and all that he stands for. He'll never get 'it' back. Everything that he touches now will be viewed in the same light.

Here's why the republican talking point of "we believe in smaller government" is bullshit: you have no problem with a big, huge government getting all up in your personal business (when you get in bed with the evangelical bible thumping lobby) telling you what you can and can't do with your own fetus, or what gay guy you want to marry, and so on. And then you have the extremely "small" government of the department of homeland security, and the patriot act, and national surveillance programs, red light cameras, cctv, absolute power for the executive branch, the be-everywhere, all-the-time "small" government that is where all this leads---a fascist police state. How's that small government?
