Why do hipsters accept Bluegrass, but not Country?

Hipsters bemoan country music (like quite a few mainstreamers do), oh but bluegrass? folk? hillbilly? We're all about that! As if they would know the first thing about growing up poor in rural Appalachia. Old Crow Medicine Show or something on their turntable.

Why do you need someone ELSE to come along and JUSTIFY your taste in art? Choose to like music because it's what YOU like...
I like 70's prog-rock...I took shit for it then, and I take shit for it now. But, that's the music I like.

Folk and Hillbillys also enjoy smoking weed, its that simple.
I like country because not ony can i sing along to the songs, i also understand what the hell is being sung.

What's labeled as new "country" music is mostly boring, generic bullshit. Basically new rock with a little violin and southern accent. George Strait and Willie Nelson still churn out some good tunes, and that's it. Older country and bluegrass has always had more soul to it.

I enjoy Country Music, but Im not a fan of Nascar, WWE, redneck culture, etc. I just like the songs. Its like if you like some Punk Rock, it doesnt mean you're an anarchist. Music is not the culture.
