Christmas WASTE

Did Jesus really want us to generate so much trash? I like Christmas because it brings the family together but the excessive gift giving thing seems stupid. Bags and bags of empty boxes, wrappers; gifts I did not want nor need. I have to throw out last years plastic toys for my kids just to make room for the new plastic toys. Ill sell or donate the decent one's they no longer use but most of the crap goes right to the landfill.

Candy. Why do my inlaws buy everyone lbs. of candy? I do not like to eat a lot of candy. A piece here and there sure but lbs. of that nasty crap - it just gets thrown out. Ham. Why do we eat that crap. It has to be the fattiest meat on the planet and it feels like rubber. Granted it has more flavor than turkey but its nasty.

I love my family and seeing everyone on Christmas but I just wonder how so much materialism saturated a day celebrating Christ...
