Cowboys support drunk driver killer player
Posted by: John Walker ()

Yesterday the Dallas Cowboys supported the killer of one of their team-mates, a team-mate whome they celebrated by havi his number on their uniforms. The killer was allowed to walk on the sidelines, wear Cowboys gear and cheer for the team while his team-mate lay dead on a slab. The killer blew more than twice the legal limit but was still supported by the team.

Do you think this was the right thing?

Personally, I do not think this is the right thing but...

If the dead man's mother is supporting the killer then, there's really not much more to say on the matter.

What does that mean..."there's really not much more to say on the matter."? That you agree with what the Cowboys are doing? That nobody can have an opinion on the matter?

What? What do you mean?

If the guy had been clean and sober and simply wrecked his car, that's one thing. The guy had a .18 blood alcohol level and a history of drinking and driving. He is up for manslaughter. Why is he on the sidelines?

If this had happened in your office, that an employee killed another employee in a drunk driving accident, would you see the killer sitting at his/her desk like nothing happened?

Its disgusting... you'd think the rest of the organization would be pissed.

But he was a scout team linebacker, i bet if he killed tony homo or a player on the actual team he wouldn't be allowed in texas anymore.

If a person's Mom is still alive when they die, then she sets the tone for what is and isn't appropriate in the wake of her child's death.

In the case of these Cowboys players, the dead guy's Mom has been extremely supportive of her son's killer. She insisted he sit next to her at her son's funeral and there were lots of pictures of the two of them embracing and comforting each other.

Again, if I'm Jerry Jones? The killer is dismissed from the team. But, if the dead guy's Mom is ok with him being on the sidelines then, who the fuck is anyone else to say or do anything else about it?

In regular society, this guy would be shunned and removed from the team. Yes, the deceased guys mother has a kind heart but there is no way the Cowboys as an organization should be supporting someone who killed another person while legally drunk. There are other ways to support him, like leave without pay, or something quiet. To put him on the sidelines, looking like a shlub, defies logic.

He should have been ashamed of himself, but probably wasn't.

Do you expect anything less from the Cowboys?

So, you mean that if the mother is OK with it, nobody else can have an opinion either way about it? That he is untouchable as it might relate to the law of the land or people's opinions about what is right or wrong, good taste or bad?

From the Dallas Morning Star:

Several of the Cowboys players called Brent and implored him to come to the game. They wanted him there. Since Brent is on the non-football illness list, he can show up at any time before the game like a player on injured reserve and gain access.

Owner Jerry Jones, executive vice president Stephen Jones and head coach Jason Garrett weren't aware that Brent was going to be at the game until they saw him on the sidelines.

"Nose tackle Josh Brent will not be permitted to be on the Dallas Cowboys' sideline for the remainder of the season, team and league sources said Tuesday."

Well of course, because they realized how incredibly stupid they looked having someone charged with manslaughter of one of their own teammates roaming the sidelines.

Another reason to hate the NFL's most pretentious team.
