Tim Geithner

What's the concensus on Geithner? I'm rather impressed with his demeanor and cut to the chase attitude when interviewed on tv. Anyone know the inside story with him? Guessing he'll move into a CEO position with a big bank once he leaves public service next month.

You're kidding right? lol

Tiny Tim is just a parrot. He says what he's told to say and does what he's told to do.

He has zero private-sector banking or management experience and minimal finance or economics background for that matter. His entire career has been as a bureaucrat. He'll end up at a university, rumored to be in the running for President at Dartmouth, or with one of the think tank consulting firms which exist only because people will pay ridiculous rates for access to the current administration like most of the rest who have left.

Bag man.

Somebody really wants him bad for him to be in that position of negotiating over the tax sytem. Remember his Turbo Tax excuse for failing to pay taxes on his consulting.

Yeah not kidding. He expresses some rhetoric but for the most part, doesn't engage in too much of it. Of course he has to follow the president's lead but he comes across as being pretty bright to me.

Haven't heard the rumor of Darmouth but Orszag got into Citi as a senior manager. Sec of Treasury isn't a cush job especially through this last recession. Say what you will, but things could have a been a lot worse...

He's a hack. He *never* deviates from talking points even when it makes him look ridiculous by doing so. Even Sheila Bair, who I think is a very sharp woman and much better fits your description than Geithner, has criticized the job that he's done and many of the decisions made and for putting politics and connections first.

Even ignoring the many rather poor decisions made relative to the economy and the bail-outs, including the sweetheart bonus deals for execs, etc., the way that he's handled some major F'ups like the LIBOR scandal don't say a lot for his decision making. Although I'm sure that he's a smart enough guy, the real reason that he's gotten to where he has is because of family connections.

Think older version of Carl Bruner, the bank executive whom Sam Wheat was about to discover had been laundering money in the film Ghost.

"That dude does not have any eye brows?"
I noticed that too this morning Mike Wallace's kids' show (some kind of pun intended in there somewhere).

some folks their hair falls out, others their hair turns grey(pause for effect) and in some rare cases the eyebrow hair goes from slinging all that bull shit

Geithner is also one of them folks who turns his head sideways when talking. what would Rush's body language expert say about that

Boner looks like he's going to cry from the pressure al the time. Hope he's had his eyes check out just in case.

Geithner predicts Republicans will cave

It's too early for a resolution where either side gives ground.
