MItt Romney is absolutely pissed off that the unemployment rate dropped from 8.1% to 7.8%. Why? Because it means that the central theme of his campaign is a crock of shit.
Romney and his GOP cohorts are now saying that Obama has conspired with the Department of Labor to fake the unemployment rate to boost Obama's likelihood of getting elected.

True - but what is worse is no one apparently predicted the numbers - ALL the economists surveyed by Bloomberg were WAY off - and yet the chart shows that the results we got was what should have been predicted, more or less.

Prediction on the BLS numbers have been off for months. Most indicators pointed to higher number of jobs, but BLS was coming in lower. So the fact it was adjusted better fits other indicators shouldn't be a surprise.

DOL was surveying industries like restaurants to come up with the better numbers. So you have more wait staff and bus boys. Instead of surveying manufacturing jobs where they knew the numbers were dismal at best.
Its like a CEO asking his own accounting department if they think he is doing a good job.

You hit the nail on the head. I'm really getting a charge out of news reports this morning that the DLS is "non-political". I wonder if the press wants to talk about Obammies nominee to head the DLS? Erica Groshen has ties to the Communist Party and can't seem to get a confirmation hearing scheduled in the Senate.
Wonder why Harry's sitting on this one. :)
