It means Tim Pawlenty will be his VP pick because no GOP rising star will tie their fortunes to Romney's dog of a campaign. It also means David Axelrod is a lot smarter than most political commentators give him credit for.

Actually it mostly means that there was an over-representation of Dems in the sample and that Axelrod's failed to significantly move the numbers even after blowing a ton of money on negative ads. Wait until Romney gets the coming bump after declaring a running mate and the convention and they start to respond with their own big guns ad campaigns. The numbers at this point in the game are basically meaningless. No reason to even look at them until about 45 days out other than as forum fodder.

The same pollsters that called the Wisconsin recall too close to call and the Governor retained his office by over 9%

Yeah, but every non-tracking poll has Obama up...up big (for a mediocre incumbent).

This makes a difference to the race at this stage how? Wait until the country remembers that Obama still comes with Joe Bidden and then you'll get a good reflection of the state of the election.

Obama's done a good job of hiding Joe so far but he can't keep him locked in a closet for much longer. People are going to talk.
