Chevy Volts Owners Claiming 2000 Mile Between Fill Ups

Chevrolet declared that Volt owners have now collectively saved a supertanker of gasoline. Volt owners typically drive an average of 2000 miles between fill ups at the gas station.

According to Chevrolet, since the electric car with extended range went on sale, Volt owners have compiled 40 million miles on electricity and avoided the use of more than 2.1 million gallons of gasoline. Based on $3.80 per gallon of gas, this means total savings at the pump of almost $8 million.

“With each click of the odometer, Chevrolet Volt owners are measuring their contribution to reducing America's dependence on foreign oil and to preserving the environment,” said Cristi Landy, Chevrolet Volt marketing director. “Volt owners are also saving at the fuel pump with more than $8 million in combined savings.”

Chevrolet recently introduced a rolling ticker on its website that showcases real-time daily driving statistics for Volt owners based on OnStar data. Results in total number of miles driven, electric miles driven and gallons of gas saved are viewable.

The OP stated true facts just as long as you brake often.

The less you touch the break pedal then the less gas you save.

I guess if you wanted to at a red light just sit there pumping the break pedal charging up the car will have a lot of benefits.

Now if you habitually drive the highway which has no red lights then you are totally fucked.

What Volt owners are too stupid to realize is that it will take then 10-15 years to actually save any money at all with the increased cost of the car.

The car sucks, period.

Voltaire must be a local salesman of the car desperate to try and sell those pos

What do they suppose was the fuel that was burned to generate the electricity for when they plug in to the outlet?

Not if you don't use any gas and only make local trips. Not to mention their health is for superior for not having to breath car exhaust everywhere they go. Bye bye cancer!

And the 7gallons of oil to make the tires and 78 gallons for various interior plastics including the carpet, foam in the ceiling and in the seats, armrests and so forth.

To top it off you are a fucking loser if you buy gasoline with ethanol in it.

"You didn't make that" applies here...

The Owebummer administration forced it onto GM.

Electric cars are really nuclear and coal powered, and no fucking body wants to buy that shit.

Is this even English?

If you dont use any gas you still have to save 15-20k in unused gas because you paid twice for the car what normal cars cost and thats assuming you have 0 issues with the car.

Apparently you dont know how electricity is made either.

So what do you do, walk. You can bitch all you want but either you are a kid and don't drive or you are a tree hugging asshole or a hypocrite. I don't know how you figure the volt cost twice the normal car. The resale value on the Volt is very high and the owner will get back a large percent of the cost. If it is so bad what is it you drive that is so much better?

This is even dumber then the previous posts.

How do I know it costs twice as much to buy? Because it costs twice as much to buy than normal cars dumbass. Its not rocket science.

Any car is better than that over priced piece of shit. The only thing a volt does is make idiots like you feel like youre saving money and the world when in fact youve done the exact opposite.

You are a real asshole kid. I does cost more and stays worth more then the Honda you may drive if you were old enough to drive. Today used Volts are selling for 95% of the original price. So if you can drive you can continue to drive your little piece of shit and not a well built modern car.

Im not a kid, and nothing you just just said was true.

Youre obviously just pissed off you wasted a ton of money on an overpriced pile of crap thinking you were saving the world then learned your car is run by coal power plants is eats up way more of your budget then it will ever save you in gas.

Let me guess youre also currently boycotting chick-fil-a

i don't own a Volt and have no plans of ever owning one. I just respect the people that do because it really isn't a bad car. I have been a few miles in one and it is a nice car. And I am correct on the resale value of the Volt. I am far what you think just someone who respects someones right to do what they think, unlike you. have a nice fucking day asshole.

People can do whatever they want to, if people want to buy a volt fine. But dont go parading around like its saving the world or saving you a ton of money.

Voltaire comes on here all the time doing that I state facts.

When you act like an asshole you get treated like one like in your case. You can get off the high horse now. When youre 2nd sentence is calling someone a fucking asshole or a kid because they arent brainwashed like you thats far from respecting other people. You set the tone for the exchange

Any midsized car like the volt is will get you 30-35 mpg gallon if not better. Itll also cost half the price for it and the repairs will be cheaper. A hybrid would be a better option as well.

The electronics inside the volt are nice, but you can get those on any car. Its not a terrible idea, but it clearly wasnt ready to be forced into the market like it was. From a practical standpoint a natural gas car would probably be a better use of their resources as we have more of it then we could ever wish for and you could configure gas stations for it without the 8-10 hour charge times electric cars need

The volt has been a financial disaster in every sense of the word for GM and if they are going to keep pushing cars like this theyll be asking for another bailout in no time.

I give Chevy credit for actually bringing the car to the market and making an attempt. I see nothing wrong with them selling the car for whatever the people that want the first of what is coming by all the manufactures is willing to pay. In the next 2 or 3 years every carmaker will have a Volt class car. The Leaf is a total failure and I don't see any real attempts by the manufactures to go natural gas anytime soon. You may not like it but every maker will have its Volt real soon.

Not if they want to be financially viable they wont. Or they better make a lot of improvements. Its a shame theres no natural gas attempt.

Every manufacturer can keep trying to push it but doesnt mean it wont be just as much of a failure. The car whiffed so bad on its sales projections it wasnt even funny and production had to be shut down numerous times. Not to mention the government is just completely subsidizing it for some reason.

If theres a new administration in the fall and government money for these cars dries up theyre done. They cant survive with what they sell in the market place because people dont want them.

They can charge whatever they want but if your going to charge 40k which is higher than the average yearly salary it has to be a hell of a lot better than this.

And I dont give chevy a bit of credit for this. They did it because the government wants it. If this is them doing it on their own theyre just proving why they shouldnt have been bailed out. They make some good cars, this isnt one of them. But when youre playing with the houses money I guess they dont really have to care about whether or not it makes sense from a business standpoint and we can just give them another 40 billion in the coming years
