No, it's a fake holiday by a black man.

Specifically, Maulana Karenga (born Ronald McKinley Everett, also known as Maulana Ron Karenga, Ron Karenga and as M. Ron Karenga) a Black nationalist, founded the holiday in 1966.

Regarding fake holidays, I personally prefer Festivus.

Kwanza is a fake wanna'be African holiday created by Black Americans who swear they're actually African. The first time I told an African about it, they laughed and asked what Kwanza was. Lol, this whole time they acted like is came from "The Motherland", and yet, not a single African knows wth it is.
