Used Exercise Equipment
Posted by: Fairfax Mom ()

My son is an exercise freak, and he'd like fitness equipment for Christmas. I'd like to buy used since since new is prohibitively expensive. I'm aware of Play It Again Sports in Leesburg, but haven't been there yet. I don't know of any other places around here that sell used equipment. Do you have any recommendations?

One potential issue...my son currently does 2-3 hours straight on the elliptical at the highest level. He also does about 2 hours on the stairmaster at the highest level (generally not the same day). This is 7 days/week. That would seem to put a huge strain on the equipment. Also, I don't think he feels particularly challenged any more. Is there any equipment that might provide more of a workout for him?

Thanks for your input.

He goes to an inexpensive gym, but he'd prefer to work out at home.

you can do anything with strength bands you can do with weights. its also much much cheaper you just need some doorways or a post to attach it too.

http://www.build-muscle-guide.com/terrell-owens-bands.html

also you can get

http://www.trxtraining.com/

Both are pretty much the same thing although you can get real creative with the trx for core workouts ect. Both are much cheaper than a full gym would be and fit in a small bag for storage.

Set of weights, steel, not plastic. About 110 lbs include dumbells and an EZ curl bar. All you need.

Buy on Craigslist. That stuff is like pianos and pool tables. People want to get rid of it so they will almost pay you to take it.

Put it hang it in the basement or out on a tree limb. Best thing for arms, buy hand wraps and gloves also.

Your son doesn't do weights? Get him p90x. That shit works wonders. You don't need equipment.

A door mounted chinup bar. A pair of kettlebells 30lbs, pushup brackets. Cheap and effective.

P90x is a hardcore workout. It's like a boot camp of cardio and strength training. You're never doing the same moves. Golds gym has classes but I ordered it and do it at home also. It's not easy but it's really good. Worth every penny.

Www.beachbody.com. Also check out the amazon reviews. Over 1000 reviews and 98% are positive.

P90X tightens everything except vaginal muscles. Kittie is an expert on the subject. She will tighten her cunt over your cock and make you ejaculate super hard core -so I've heard.

What is the cardio component with P90X? BTW, my son does about 1/2 hour of core work per day, plus jui-jitsu and MMA workouts several times weekly.

Ands thanks for that visual, Mr. OB.
