I've noticed that many artist use the word love in strange ways. I think many just substitute "love" for "pussy" or "cum" because back then they weren't able to use those words.
A lot of songs mention stuff like "show me your love" or "whole lotta love" or "cover me with your love" and so on.
I think this is why many new artists don't use the word "love" much in their songs these days. They can just say what they really mean and use whatever words they want.

Those older songs were more poetic, and had more hidden meanings, so it was more fun for people who "got it". Now that everything just hangs out in the open, there's no mystery anymore. Kind of like seeing the bride naked before the wedding night.
Prince Buster didn't play that game. This song is pretty explicit, even by today's standards. You've gotta love a lyric like "it's gonna be pussy versus cocky tonight".

Yes.
Love is also used in place of "my/your cock".
"My love is on fire"
"Keep giving your love to me"
"I lay my love on you"
