Redskins Bizzare play; F U Snyder or last act of a desperate Zorn?

Was this Jim Zorn's giant middle finger to Dan Snyder? Was this a bizarre backyard playbook folly? Didnt this play highlight what a ridiculous game we pay people MILLIONS of dollars to play?

I thought Zorn wasn't calling the plays anymore.

The Skins were getting killed by the Giants. I can't really blame them for a gadget play. However, if Hunter the Punter had looked to his right, he would have noticed that Todd Yoder was open. You can see him come free at 1:04 with no one defending him.

The monday night broadcaster guy said there is a bizarre love triangle on offensive plays. Lewis calls plays sometimes and zorn calls plays in the red zone and somebody else calls plays on special teams or something.

LOL. Seems to be working out great.

You can also see the two guys in front of Hunter on the right. There is no defending running that play after the Giants called a timeout to figure out what's going on and how to counter it.

Zorn did indeed call this play and claimed it worked like a dream in practice. That makes me very concerned about how bad the defense is in practice. One of the writers in the Post asked if Zorn thought the defense was supposed to count to 3 missisippi before rushing the kicker.

I'm not defending it. I'm just saying that I think a throw to Yoder would have stood a better chance than throwing to kicker who is draped in NYG defenders. Yes, Hunter the Punter had people in his face on the right, but Yoder, who has good hands, was a hell of a lot more open than the kicker was.

Davis was open in the left corner of the end zone, too. But hitting him required a bullet, and more than the .75 seconds Hunter had to react. The real surprise of the play was that Hunter DIDNT end up a paraplegic.

What is interesting about that play is it shows how the rest of the NFL thinks compared to Greg Blache. If Blache had been calling the defense, he would have had everyone playing coverage against the receivers and nobody rushing the QB. Blache is supposedly a defensive guru, yet he lets his so-so secondary get picked apart because he puts no pressure on the QB. It would be nice to see Blache run an eight man blitz in 3rd and long situations once in a while. Yes, that's not the ideal scheme, but given how his defense gets picked apart when sitting back in coverage, it would be worth a try (not that that will matter in a few weeks).
