How is Zimmermann "white" but Obama is "black"?

Why do the media and other groups keep calling Zimmermann "white" when he is hispanic? If he is white according to the media and black groups, then Obama's election was not in fact historic in any other manner other than a new president was elected.

It's new math. You simply round up to either black or white so that racial issues are 'black or white'. That way everyone can understand such a 'polar' issue. See how I can still use all my old buzzwords now?

I think the black groups" have realized that fact now.
