There's no way Hillary gets nominated to the SCOTUS. First, she is not qualified for the position. Aside from courses at Yale and some brief work in the subject early in her career, she has little experience with constitutional law. Second, Obama is not very fond of her. I think you're much more likely to see someone come off of the DC or California circuit than Hillary. Besides, I think she's doing fine for the Dems in the Senate.

Powell would make an excellent Secretary of Defense, but I doubt he wants the job. Likewise, I don't think Gore would take anything. I think Summers would be decent for Treasury, but his appointment would be a big "fuck you" to women and I doubt Obama would go out on a limb for him.

I heard John Kerry's name mentioned for Sec. of State. I've also heard that Luger is not interested in a cabinet position.

Kerry would be a huge mistake in that position. I like Luger, but he has a certain "Warren Christopher" vibe to him. I think Richard Holbrook or Bill Richardson would be better in that position.

Okay. Palin is a complete idiot. She doesn't know Africa is a continent. And Bobby Jindal is great, but the bigots in the Republican Party won't support an Indian the same way they wouldn't support a Mormon, even though Romney could have given Obama a real run.

Actually, the Republicans should nominated Palin in 2012. Obama wouldn't have to raise a dime. Palin would destroy herself.

It's called a mandate. Obama can put up anyone he wants in the next two years and they will undoubtedly end up on the court. Hillary is all about ego. She isn't running for President again. It's better to be one of nine than one of 100. As for her qualifications, you have had members of the Supreme Court who weren't even lawyers. She is more than qualified.

All the more reason to kick her out of the Senate and up to the Supreme Court.

I do too, but this is probably the first time in her life she doesn't have a defined career trajectory.

Summers would be a huge problem. He has a lot of baggage left over from Harvard. I think Volcker is well respected by both parties. Even though he is '81, he has never served as Treasury Secretary and would problem see it as a crowning achievement to his illustrious career.

Lack of experience is what killed Miers' nomination. Obama's first nominee will be a slam dunk. He doesn't want to risk the embarrassment.

Hillary Clinton might make an OK justice (it is difficult to tell), but she would make an awful nominee. Everyone knows exactly where she stands, she has high negatives in national opinion polls, and she is questionably qualfied. Obama is going to want nothing to do with that, especially early in his term. There will be few better ways to motivate the Republican base.

I put her chances at getting the nomination as very very slim.

Also Robert Gibbs as WH press secretary. Again, don't know much about him. Thoughts?

Didn't think much about Perino (she's actually gotten better) but she is very easy on the eyes.

Another thing about Clinton is that she's probably too old.

I think that Sotomayor is the likely choice. Elena Kagan is another possibility down the road, just not for his first nomination.

Henry Paulson was Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, as well.

Dude...all of my comments in this thread are about how she would be a lousy nominee.

It'll be Sotomayor, and then it will be Kagan, and in eight years, you people will be WISHING it was Hillary.

Might make an "ok" justice?

That woman would be the worst justice ever. She is too polar, she knows nothing about compromise, rational thought, reason, consideration and conciliation.

Hillary takes issues as competition -- you either agree with her, or you lose.

Just look at what happened with her "Universal Health Care" proposal -- when congress came back with some changes, she refused to compromise in any way, it had to be the way she wanted it, or it wouldn't be at all.

That is an awful trait to have as a supreme court justice.

Please tell me how that differs from current justices like Scalia, Thomas, and Ginsberg.

SCOTUS has become less about interpreting law and more about making it. And this is true on BOTH sides of the spectrum. Whether you agree with Roe or not, it was an atrocious piece of law. Scalia's opinion in DC v. Heller also just made shit up.

Scalia, Thomas and Ginsberg are not ideologically single-minded. They do not always, unquestionably, side with one ideology or another.

Hillary Clinton is an uncompromising and rabid social constructionist and does not believe there is any other valid opinion other than the one she holds. She believes the world would be a better place if only people would just agree with her, or at least acquiesce to her will.

Don't you think it's funny that the same people who used to say "Better dead than red!" now say "The redder the better!"?

Leave it to Fox News to seek out and zoom in on the one nutcase in the crowd who wants to make whatever twisted political statement with a soviet flag, play the soviet national anthem, and imply that the entire rally was waving soviet flags.

I really wish I had gone to a McCain rally and waved a nazi flag. Then some news outlet could accuse the entire McCain rally to be nothing more than a neo-nazi rally.

Oh yeah, I forgot one important detail about that Fox News propoganda piece -- That was in front of the white house, around 11:30 pm or midnight on the night of the election.

It wasn't an organized event, it was just a spontaneous celebration of people who came pouring out of the bars in the downtown DC area.

So whatever association they were trying to make was a false one, but that doesn't matter to dittoheads and the mentally challenged, they see the image and it makes the impact Fox desired it to make.
