The outgoing commander of US troops in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, has said that he will never declare victory there. Looks as if Gen Betray-us is right in step with McSame.

Why do reporters insist on putting titles to their articles that attempt to paraphrase the intent of the speaker? As is seen here, the usual attempt fails, as the article does not support the statement made...
From a military perspective he is correct. From the perspective that folks went in there, did a job, and are trying to leave the place better than they found it - that would be a victory of sorts. But even a victory of sorts is better than an all out failure which is what some people would like to believe.
Why don't you move to France if you think it is so terrible here? Or maybe the UK? They walk right in line with the kind of thinking you advocate here, and then you would have less to complain about.

Victory..is getting our troops out of there. We do not belong in the Arab world...the Iraquis dont want us..and cant wait for us to leave (all except the puppets making money off of us). The headline tells the truth..the Gen's words are designed to confuse the truth.
Bush is hoping to control the pace of withdrawal from beyond the political grave by having his henchmen start building the case against a quick withdrawal. Of course by Bush's defintion a withdrawl at any time will be precipitous and Gen Betaryus is nothing more then a his puppet.
As far as leaving..no thanks..I'll stay and hope for some common sense back into our foreign policy.

Yes, let's use Jimmy Carter diplomacy - his is the way to go.
I will make this prediction - it doesn't matter if McCain wins, or Obama wins - we will have a military presence in Iraq for a long time to come, no matter what the Democrats are spouting right now to get folks to vote for them. We may draw down troops eventually, but there will still be a large presence in the region, much like the Korean peninsula (maybe less, maybe more - hard to say now). If you believe anything else you will be very disappointed on that issue if Obama does win.

I will not disagree with you...but...there would be no way to try and hold McSame to that proposition...there would be for Obama.
By the way...Jimmy Carter is the only presdient to have an Arab Country sign a peace agreement with Israel (Egypt). So..Id be more then happy to have some of those same results at the present time.
