THINKING ABOUT SERVING

whats up peeps! I am considering joining the army or air force and i just wanted to get some professional advice and positive input from people who know whats up. I am 27/m and hold a green card, am i too old to join? I have a lot of college credits but no degree to my name and wanted to know if the military looks down at somebody my age coming into serve with those previous conditions. I dont think they should but i have gotten a lot of mixed responses from friends and such, maybe because they dont want me to serve or what not. I really need the money to finish college and i want to serve my country and i hope to become a citizen one day. Also will two drunk in public charges (over 5 yrs ago), reckless driving and speeding tickets get in the way because I know that there are a lot of people who have done much worse things than me and with more serious charges than myself that are in the military. I have no felonies just those petty misdemeanors from when i was a really young buck chasing the tail and all. Fellas you know what I mean. Appreciate any positive input that you can give me. Thank you!

It sounds to me like you shouldnt have any problems enlisting.
However, keep in mind that at age 27, when you enter Basic Training,
you will automatically earn the nickname "Pops" or "Grandpa". Most
will be much younger than you, but you will have the advantage
of maturity. I hope you like the idea of a lot of sand in your future
and many months/years of overseas deployment. It will not be to
"dream assignments" like Hawaii or Japan.

Well, Army is definetely welcoming people with open arms. Navy is the second easiest to get into. Air Force is actually down sizing so they are the hardest to get in right now. Marines will always be the best but they are a lot easier to get into then before especially for infantry MOS. Last time I heard, the Army will take you with no GED and w/felonies. MEPS is a pain in the ass but it's worth the wait if you really want to serve. What are you good at? any skills? what degree were you pursuing?

27 is not too old - don't worry about it. The misdemeanors will need to be disclosed but will likely not pose any problems - usually only drug charges and other felonies are issues and again, full disclosure up front.

My suggestion is to stay away from the military and find another way to serve your country.

Must be a sad realization when even the Army won't take you.

Thanks for the inputs from people who have something important to say. On another note, man I would love to meet face to face with some of the wankers who post on these forums. I would tear you to ribbons and then laugh at your lack of intelligence and strength. There are some seriously stupid people who post on these forums. There should be an age verification system so we dont have 3rd graders posting on here. To the people who have nothing useful or intelligent to say; keep your fingers off of the keyboard and your mouths shut. If you dont have anything nice or relevant to say then don't say anything.
