Race tied up again

Looks like the Palin effect is over. Perhaps McCain will announce his cabinet consisting of Sponge Bob, Kermit, and the Jonas Brothers to cause another boost.

Palin is going to be a liability McCain. Now she is claiming that a Kenyan "witch hunter" gave her a blessing in 2005 that helped her become governor. I think the important question is, did he drink the blood of the chicken after he sacrificed it? Or did he just spread it on his arms and legs?

Normally you might think the witch hunter thing was just a wild rumor. It's not.

The media acts like they made Sarah Palin. Now that they have spent 2 weeks trying to destroy her, as soon as a poll comes out suggesting they may have succeeded, suddenly "it is over". Lol.

I will wait until after ALL the debates are over before I make any final judgment.

Keep trying.

Actually all the Gallup poll shows is McCain still at 47, and Obama up 1 point from last week. Not sure how that is indicative that the "Palin effect" is over - btw.

Until either of them can go 51 percent it is still not over until election day. Margin of error and all that.

Keep trying though :)

Thanks for keeping us all up to date. Still within the margin of error.

Obama - 50
McCain - 44

What's the margin of error RV?

Yes, margin of error on that one was +-2% so advantage numbers. Funny thing, he is losing Electoral counts. You know why? Because his large vote totals are coming from NY, California, and a couple of other high population states. He could sweep NY and California and get many hundred thousand more votes than McCain - and still lose.

Real Clear Politics Electoral Map:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/

Here's the one if they take the snapshot as of today:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=10

Obama 273 McCain 265.

Debates will tell the tale folks. Right now it is all speculation - even for the pollsters. Just hope that the polls of "National Registered Voters" per the Gallup site, aren't being heavily polled in NY or California...

I will admit nothing either way until after the debates. You guys can crow all you want, but I wouldn't get too excited yet.

Speaking of debates...

"At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.

McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive."

Good god what a joke. After the litany of horseshit over the past month about how she has plenty of experience to be VP, they have the nerve to turn the debate into the Special Olympics to protect this idiot's image.

People can really stomach four more years of this kinda shit???

The Republicans are trying to set the bar low on the debates. They did this with Bush in 2000. The difference is, as limited as Bush is intellectually, he had enough sense to stick with the talking points. I don't get the impression Palin has that much sense. On the other hand, Biden has a tendency to get off message as well. I hope he can keep his shit together for one debate and not hand Republicans something to run with. All he needs to do is have a Rick Lazio moment.

An analyst from Gallup said the state polls typically trail the national polls a week to ten days. For instance, the latest poll out of Colorado has Obama up by 10. You are seeing similar results in other swing states. Also, several states that had been leaning or solidly Republican are suddenly toss-ups on Pollster, including West Virginia and Indiana.

It's only a tie if you selectively pick out the one poll that shows that. Here's a more comprehensive picture:

Obama up by 2--47 to 45.

The thread started with Gallup, other people have posted Gallup. Sure, I could have posted RCP when it had McCain up a while back. You post Gallup when it suits you - then suddenly its back to a tie and you have to post RCP to keep an edge. Lol.

My observation on all these threads. The folks supporting McCain don't seem to be worried either way. The Obama supporters here post like they have to prove to themselves over and over that "their guy" is ahead. It is almost funny, but when you follow many of the threads here it is pretty obvious. I guess you have to keep convincing yourselves you are making the right choice. Makes me laugh.

Have fun changing the rules to keep your story straight. Lol.

Actually, dude, if you reread the thread you'll see that I wasn't the one that started this thread. Somebody else started the thread with Gallup numbers and then you inaccurately posted that Gallup showed them as tied. So, I graciously posted the link to the Gallup poll.

Keep trying though!

How was my post inaccurate again? I fail to see it.

Gallup Daily: Race Back to a Tie at 46% Each

From the original poster I read the Gallup link they pointed at.

I was just going through the Gallup results over the last few days, and their in-depth numbers. Honestly, they should just poll once a week - and maybe just post the running average. Their day to day polls would make you think that every day people are choosing to vote for different reasons.

I will state again that the debates will most likely decide the race. I am not going to sit and critique each debate though, I will wait til the last ones.

I am sure folks here will breathlessly post every "gotcha" from tonight though :)
