At what age should people stop working fast food jobs?
Posted by: McJob ()

I noticed some people are content with working fast food jobs well into adulthood. At what point do you wake up and want something better for your life?

23

You should be done with college, and able to take care of yourself at this point.

There's people struggling to find work, homeless, filing for bankruptcy, losing their homes because they can't even GET a job at a fast food place.

Many college aged student and people putting themselves through graduate school will choose that field as it is easy and flexible and still a steady flow of income, no matter what opinion you have of them.

Good question. Unfortunately, many of these people are incapable of succeeding at a fast food job and therefore unable to move ahead. Most of the ones I encounter are slack jawed losers now and will forever be slack jawed losers. Not only that but the continuing economic cesspool we have is forcing people in their 30's and 40's to take these jobs.

Aw, you're reaching now. But let's see...tell me more about all these other successful 23 year olds that you know in Fairfax County who are owning their own homes and done with graduate school.

Also, who says you 'should' be doing anything? Not everyone has the same views on what life should be as you, so you are incorrect.

There are people in their 30s living at home, strung out on drugs and in jail and you want to knock someone for working at a fast food place? Nice.

Clearly this shows you have a small, weak mind that you can't help but see the negative in life.

What IS so bad about working at a fast food place? Free food, fun and an easy job and an honest living? Really? That's so bad?

I'm sorry about your life.

And what do you consider "well into adulthood" you do know working at a fast place for a long time is a great way to move on and become a manager. Thus, making money. Is there something wrong with making money?

I see my logical responses have caused the cat to get your tongue.

As soon as you can tell me more about these 23 year olds in Fairfax County who own their own home and cars and what's so bad about having a job, and making an honest living I might stop PWNing you.

I don't believe the question was when will you own a home or a car, but rather when should you stop working at a fast food place. By the time you are 23 you should be looking for other work, people don't get a white collar $100K job at that point, but many aren't working in fast food places either. I'll stand by 23.

You said you should "be able to take care of yourself by then" so doesn't one need a job to be able to take care of themselves? Or are you saying by 23 they should have so much money that they should be able to retire?

And tell us why you believe someone "SHOULD" stop working at a fast food place. What exactly is wrong with having a real job and making an honest living?

What if the person doesn't want to get a white color $100k job? You do see how your opinions don't really hold any ground right? Not everyone is like you.

What do you do for a living? Hmmmmmmmmmm?

Oh, so have you been living under a rock or something? Clearly you don't know that this country is in one hell of an economic funk and jobs are pretty hard to come by and people in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s and now losing their homes and having to go bankrupt because they lose their $100K white collar jobs and can't even get work at a fast food place.

So please, tell me more about why someone SHOULD stop working at a fast food place at 23. Besides it just being your opinion for the sole purpose of TROLOLOLing and getting a reaction/response.

I mean, why not 22? So it's perfectly okay for a 22 year old to work at a fast food place, right? That's what you're saying..doesn't really make sense. That's such an odd and random age besides being lizzie's age of course.

Nothing wrong with having a real job and making an honest living. Someone should stop working at a fast food place if they have completed college and wants to do something else with their life. They should be able to take care of themselves at 23 with a fast food salary, or a low end white or blue collar salary. If you work at a fast food place to help get you through college, and like it and want to be a manager, more power to you. If you are asking if you want fries with that at 40 because you don't want to move out of mom's basement, that's a problem.

I'm a lawyer and specialize in drunk driving cases.

LOL! But why SHOULD they? Just because you say they SHOULD? And now it went from 23 to 40? Uhhh..you're slipping. Just quit while you're behind.

And what makes you think that just because they work in fast food they can't take care of themselves?

You do see how I am able to poke holes in EVERYTHING you're saying, right? Why? Because you're a troll and a very bad one at that and nothing you say is holding any basis in the real world.

You are not a lawyer but I'm sure you've had many drunk driving cases in your life.

In conclusion, it's not your life so you shouldn't worry about what anyone else does with theirs. Period.

If it isn't bothering you or effecting you, then you really should have no opinion.

Maybe you should employee these people or give them some free money if you think they SHOULD not be working at a fast food place.

Right?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I would be happy to review any and all of their resumes and applications and give them a fair shot at a job. And maybe I should employ them and not employee them. Get back to flipping burgers, fuckface.

I used to work at FPYC, why would I bash it? I have a lot of good memories of working there. Double check that employ/employee bullshit you're serving up, then fuckoff.

Do you/have you EVER had this much fun at work? That's what life is all about. Having fun and enjoying what you do. Tell me again why someone should go sit in an office at a job they hate for a boss they hate for money they will never get to enjoy because they are working so much?

Yeah.

Oh and btw there is NO flipping involved at Smashburger. Hence the name. They literally Smash the burgers into the grill and they hook thoroughly through and through. So again, your attempts at trolling just result in you reaching, nit picking and you trying ANYTHING to feel better about your sorry life.

If you were content with your life you wouldn't ever think twice about what someone else was doing with their life, where they worked or what they did.

I will say this. As a father and a husband, I will do whatever it takes to feed my family. I have done that. From not eating so my little boys and their mother could eat, to working at KMART (very briefly). Sometimes people get laid off. Sometimes, jobs aren't available. Even if you are very educated. Even if you have good savings, why live off of it? Why not work unless you are lazy? Nothing is about my families survival, so if I had to flip burgers or stuff Tacos to fee them and give them shelter...consider it done.

The problem is that you have lived a sheltered and pampered life. People who are older and working those jobs have probably had a rough time. Bad / missing parents, abusive parents, etc. Maybe they never got on track for college cause they couldn't go home cause it wasn't a great place to be. You should be glad these people are WORKING.

I am from southwest Virginia. Many old people work at fast food places because social security just doesnt cut it. The manager is some kid in his 20s while the employees are 70+

The reason this thread was posted is because the OP is someone who could not fathom working in a fast food place and being able to look himself in the mirror. Not because of pride or confidence but because of the very opposite. Lack of self esteem. Most people don't actually look down upon those working at fast food places, or else they wouldn't even bother eating at a fast food place. The OP doesn't have enough confidence in himself to work at somewhere where he feels like people would judge him or look down upon. That is the product of a very weak individual with a small mind who cares too much what others think of him, thus having a low opinion of himself if he feels that he has to get validation from other people's opinions on him based upon where he is employed.
