Why does the press release say that he was killed from small arms fire when in actual fact there were 2 IEDs that hit 2 seperate humvees in the convoy and one of those killed him?

why do they make no attributions of bombings and attacks in Syria to the Islamic guerillas? The US media is quick to state the Syrian government is responsible when their army or air force carries out attacks. When the guerrillas attack or commit atrocities, they merely state tha Syria is in the midst of violent clashes.

Are IED's considered small arms fire? or are they just not releasing the fact that it was an IED and that the 3 others in the vehicle were sent to landstuhl?
