Why not place the blame squarely with Congress where it belongs? This whole "fiscal cliff" is just one huge unnecessary scare tactic hoax.

All Congress needs to do is repeal the legislation and sit down and have a rational discussion and debate. Sure you can call it "kicking the can down the road" but it's a smarter decision than driving the entire economy off a cliff.

Yeah, we know. You already told us.

You should have let it go for a while; it was funny.

I liked the fake Ito better than the real one.

Unless you are on welfare or social security any drop will hit you. private/local and state pensions invest in the market. They suffer you suffer.

This is just another case of conventional wisdom gone wild.

All the talking heads in the media, Obama administration, ruling elite, congress and what have you yap their asses off about the "looming fiscal cliff".

"If we don't do something we're all doomed."

As usual there is much more involved in this issue other than what all the usual suspects from the White House down are spoon feeding the great unwashed or as I like to say the idiots among us.

If it were only the "fiscal cliff" catalyzing certain economic doom the solution would be simple as you state.

" All Congress needs to do is repeal the legislation
and sit down and have a rational discussion and
debate. Sure you can call it "kicking the can down
the road" but it's a smarter decision than driving
the entire economy off a cliff."

Even if we navigate the "fiscal cliff" safely what about the other more ominous cliffs that now appear unavoidable?

*The Keynesian cliff
Runaway deficit spending or as some call it "stimulus spending" that is 100% certain to escalate exponentially for the next four years

*The Obamacare cliff
Of which all the rules and regulations have not even been completed yet and will add to the deficit and raise taxes on everyone at the same time.

Unfortunately we are heading straight into a deepening recession with no hope of pulling out in the near future. Veto proof majorities in the house and senate for the Republicans in 2014 is highly unlikely so we are destined to flounder economically for years to come.

This is the price we will pay for stupid people.

The last election sealed our economic fate.

We are going to sail right by the "fiscal cliff" no matter what the president and congress do by the end of this year to deal with it one way or the other. We will crest the ridge only to discover we are falling into a deep abyss of which will take 4 years to hit bottom.

Just because you're an idiot (who can't spell), that doesn't make Ito a pompous ass.

Yeah, try stepping that back a couple of years and see how it comes out. lol

And then calculate it in real dollars.

You'll end up down about 30%.
