Why can't we get rid of the Yankees?

Occupied Virginia would not turn blue if we didn't have all these come-heres. as little as 20 years ago, Loudoun, Fairfax were solidly Republican. And so was most of the state, except for a few liberal pockets from Richmond (VCU druggies/commies), etc. But its like our state has been hijacked. New moneyed liberals are the worst.

Since we will fund most of your government services, might as well enjoy them. We should move out of NOVA since most of our money heads south anyways.

Move to your your precious socialist Richmond and fuck off then. Enjoy having the shittiest economy in the country while northern virginia's economy suddenly makes it the most powerful per capita in the country.

Actually, Virginia was a pretty solidly Democratic state from the end of the Civil War up through the early to mid 1970's (something about Lincoln being a Republican, I think) when Republicans started making inroads. I think Tim Kaine's father-in-law, Linwood Holton in 1970, was the first Republican Governor of Virginia since 1874.

It's just that it was the pre-McGovern Democratic Party that ran the state, they were more conservative than most Republicans are now. The Byrd Machine brought us progressive ideas such as the Poll Tax and voter suppression laws, keeping certain folks in their place, so to speak.

Just my opinion, but all of you idiots would be a lot better off if you read a history book every now and then.

Ideologies don't change, parties do.

What state were you in in 1992?

Democrats controlled both houses of the Virginia General Assembly. Doug Wilder was Governor and Chuck Robb was one of the U.S. Senators. Leslie Byrnes stomped a Reagan Republican in the first election for the newly created 11th District, Jim Moran won the 8th District and there was a Democratic majority in the Virginia delegation to the House of Representatives. Yes Bush-Quayle did win a plurality of the votes in Fairfax County in 1992, but it was a 3 way race, and 4 years later Clinton-Gore won a plurality.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF Democrat. Virginia was Southern Democrat- or "Dixie" Democrat, which is basically the same as Republican. Virginia is largely conservative , even inspite of "infiltration" for more furthern north, and remains by and large a Republican state.

Why? Simply because they are the wealthiest team in baseball.

Looking at the national electoral map with all that red in the center, I want to know why we can't just get rid of those flyover states.

That whole section of red coincides with the lowest IQ, lowest tolerance, and lowest understanding of the world. There is nothing culturally, economically or intellectually redeeming about that whole swath of the country.

It would be better to set off a neutron bomb and then just use all that space to grow food.

Yeah, get rid of them. After all we dont need farms, and farms is where we get all our food. Fly over states no good. Get rid of farmers and ranchers and all those people. yeah. What a great way to end the day. Red means common sense. Ironically blue is communist country.

urhdurrr. Did you read what I wrote? I said let's set off a neutron bomb. It doesn't destroy the farmland, it only kills the people.

We can then send mexicans in to plant and harvest.

Yankees are ill bred and lack manners. They always think they are superior. They talk loud all the time and don't know anything about politeness or hospitality. When it comes to being civil, Yankees are idiots . Ruining the beautiful state of Virginia and North Carolina. Send 'em back. Please!

Serious question here: What do you think about the indians who owned Virginia before it was colonized?

That's what we "yankees" think of you quaint little southerners.

We kicked your ass, now we occupy your land.

You lost. Get over it.

The cockroaches have been faning out for years going from one state to the next fucking it up. New Yorkers have been moving to VA at all time highs to get away from high taxes. No suprise obama won. I dont expect to see another republican in office ever again or a very long time.
