I do not cheat them nor do I linger around to run up the bill, what they get is my price. I do give discounts to LE and military personnel because they appreciate my work. As far as the insult on condos. I could care less if you dont understand the benefit of not owing a mortgage. I have 300k in equity, paid off, because I didnt buy a dumbass mcmansion which I could have when I bought because I had 175k in downpayment and between me and my wife we make over 200k. We could have easily bought a 4 bedroom or 5 bedroom (in the boondocks). I chose a condo because its just the two of us, and buying a house would be stupid. I chose a condo because it is closer to my job so I dont waste a significant portion of my income on gas, or a car even even though I could afford it. I chose a condo because residential property closer in held its worth far greater than that further out during the recession. I chose a condo because it has a far better rental market, especially where I live, than owning a house which is far more difficult to find a consistent rental base for.

Then again, Im just some moron engineer, and no plumber. I can't figure out anything about a good business decision because I want to vote for Obama.

Did I say I own a 1M condo? I said in my building there are 3br penthouses that go for that amount. They pay about 500 per month in fees if I remember correctly. I own a 300k (now 340k) unit. I do pay condo fees and taxes that come out to 300 per month + a little over 300 for taxes per month. They cover all my utilities, there is a gym and pool in my building. More importantly it is a new building and the money goes towards master building funds needed for keeping the building upkept (a cost that most homeowners dont pay attention to until they have to fix a roof, or foundation issue, or plumbing).

I'll likely buy a townhouse next in the next couple of years when me and my wife want to have a kid. Until then we are saving a shit load of money and will likely be able to buy that townhouse with all cash.

Keep hating, and yet the price of my condo keeps going up and my savings likely continue to out pace yours even if you make more money
