Oromney wants to eliminate the mortgage deduction....
Posted by: Lloydster ()

Perhaps he will provide details tonight. I'm really excited about the debate tonight!

'Mitt Romney says he might be willing to reduce income tax deductions used by millions of families for home mortgage interest and health care costs. He suggested the changes could be part of a plan that includes a 20 percent cut in tax rates across the board, continuation of upper income tax cuts that Obama wants to end and a comprehensive tax overhaul plan that the Republican presidential contender has so far declined to flesh out in detail.'

I could be wrong but I'm right 99% of the time

You can piss away the feeble home recovery if he follows through on what is suggested.

Supposedly Mitt Romney is some sort of financial genius, but this idea would not only devastate the housing market, it would have disastrous effects on charitable giving.

The problem we have in our economy now is that the implosion of the real estate market devastated the net worth of the middle class. Part of the reason why the recovery has taken so long is that housing market has taken so long to recover.

Not having equity in homes makes it so small businesses don't have capital to invest into their businesses.

This obviously isn't a real proposal. Its just yet another crazy statement from the Romney campaign that his campaign advisers are already refuting today.

Romney is correct to get rid of the mortgage deductions. Anybody who needs a mortgage deduction is a lazy ass and hasn't raised enough money to buy their own house.

If you have a couple of million you buy a house and don't need a mortgage deduction.

Save your fucking money so you can buy a house with cash! Bunch of entitlement fuckers!

Point to the policy proposal that will eliminate the mortgage deduction. I realize parrots like you are too stupid to understand how the income tax structure operates, but I was under the assumption that even you could understand words in a sentence. Guess I was wrong.

I'd think that you libs would support eliminating the inherently 'unfair' mortgage deduction since it only benefits those damn wealthy property owners to the disadvantage of the poor and 'steals' money from the 'fair share' owed to the government like all of those other tax breaks for the evil rich. *shaking fist*

Christ! Have you had your fucking head in the sand the last couple of days???? This has been all over the news since Romney did 60 Minutes. Yes, IT IS TRUE!

DENVER (AP) - Offering tax reform ideas before his first debate with President Barack Obama, Mitt Romney says he might be willing to reduce income tax deductions used by millions of families for home mortgage interest and health care costs.

Romney suggested the changes could be part of a plan that includes a 20 percent cut in tax rates across the board, continuation of upper income tax cuts that Obama wants to end and a comprehensive tax overhaul plan that the Republican presidential contender has so far declined to flesh out in detail. Romney says his overall plans would invigorate the slowly recovering U.S. economy

Fine with me as long as we end up in roughly the same place. We need to get rid of all of that targeted crap and simplify taxes. It's out of hand now.

So, in your warped mind, the word "reduce" now equates to "eliminate"?

Are you really this stupid? Really? This stupid?

I refuse to believe that you are this stupid, but you are doing your best to prove that you are.

Go pick up a dictionary and get back to us.

So, no it is NOT TRUE.

PS - you may wont to consider changing your name to LIES4ThePeople.

Mortgage interest deductible on up to 1 million dollar home anyways. Cut the deduction for the middle class and give the tax cut to the rich.

What people who dont own homes probably dony understand about the Mortgage deduction is that the Interest is the deductible NOT the whole mortgage.

As well as the limitations on investment properties, etc.

"reduce income tax deductions used by millions of families for home mortgage interest and health care costs."

Holy shit. You are that stupid. Reduce is NOT a synonym for eliminate. If you reduce your calorie intake, you don't eliminate them. The fact that $17K is still available for deductions, is proof that they are NOT eliminated. Most people in this country aren't carrying $500K mortgages which is about the interest you'd be paying in the first few years of a 30 year fixed.

How can you be so uninformed? How did you get this stupid? Did you have some sort of head/brain injury?

I just don't understand how someone as stupid as you thinks they are making any sense or valid points.

Have you ever heard of a dictionary?

Obviously not.

The "raising taxes on the middle class" scare leaves out the part where taxes are reduced and there is at worst an offset and in most cases a savings.

Stop confusing these Democrats with facts. They hate that shit.

Reduce or eliminate means the same thing in my book.

The fact is Romney wants me to PAY MORE on my mortgage each year. I already pay enough in mortgage payments.

It won't save me any money if Romney eliminates the mortgage deduction. What kind of GOP math is that. The goverment takes enough of my pay check!

If that is the case, you need a new book. They have never meant the same thing. It is stupid to think that they do.

Umm, no, that isn't how a mortgage works. You won't pay a dime more in mortgage each year unless your local property taxes go up. The fact that you think your mortgage payments will somehow go up if you are only allowed to deduct $17K of the interest paid tells me you know nothing about how mortgages, mortgage interest, and mortgage interest deduction works.

Admit it, you don't have a mortgage. And, if you do, I doubt it is for more than $500K.

Throw out your numbers and let's see how this Romney plan detrimentally impacts you.

Income...

Mortgage balance...

Interest rate....

How many years are you into your mortgage....

Other annual deductions you take....

The reason why Romney brought up the whole mortgage interest reduction/elimination idea is that he has been under pressure to describe how he is going to pay for an across-the-board 20% tax cut for everyone.

For all of those who accuse Obama of the "free stuff" mentality -- what about Mitt's free tax break giveaway?

If the overall tax rate is reduced, it would. This is pretty much what Democrats have been having wet dreams for years about and now they are bitching?

This puts the screws to the rich people as they are the ones with the most deductions.

It's called give the rich who own their houses a tax break. It's just a sneaky way for republicans to fuck over the middle class again.

LOL! Wait... so eliminating a tax break is giving a tax break to those who don't take advantage of the tax break.

You have clearly demonstrated that you have no idea how this works, so your opinion on this is pretty irrelevant.
