Woodbridge neighborhoods

I am thinking about moving into the Woodbridge area. Does anyone know what parts I should avoid and what parts are good for raising a family? Mainly Horner road and Gordon Boulevard area. Thank you

People who live in fairfax and talk shit about woodbridge seem to forget ALLL about culmore, Mt Vernon, Springfield, Lorton........retards both areas have shit holes....both areas have nice places, anywhere you find a large portion of renters you know there will be problems, so look for places that are not surrounded by apartments and townhouses....

Woodbridge IS the shitty part of town, Not to be compared to Fairfax.

@OP - Potomac Club, south of Woodbrige looks very nice. The neighborhood thats off of Optiz Blvd, west of US1 - there's never been any trouble there. And yeah, Belmont Bay is ok, too. Keep in mind that most of the homes in Woodbridge are at least 40-50 years old, so there is that to consider.

Gotta remember, you are talking to a buncha elitist stuck up snobs from Fairfax...........so generally, all we see of Woodbridge is US1 and yeah, that's trash city ghettoness.

Anywho, Horner Rd and my nom de guerre - not a deadly neighborhood, but if you could live elsewhere, I'd do it ;)

I dunno about Fairfax, but Woodbridge is paradise compared to where I lived in Lorton, where I had my car stolen right out from in front of my apartment (locked, keys not in it) and some guy tried to rape a woman in the parking lot in broad daylight. Fairfax Co. has plenty of shitty parts, thank you.

I am not bothered by this. Look at a map - Lorton and Woodbridge are right next to each other. So, shit hangs out with shit.

You can't compare the two.

We moved out of PWC because the schools are so bad.

We love Fairfax and are home values have gone up. We were lucky to get out when we did.

Yes I have noticed this as well. Why does shit surround route 1?

cause it's the old highway

so old motels (drug dealers and hos), old neighborhoods and houses (lower income fams) and old businesses (fast food, used cars)

they had to bulldozer the ENTIRE TOWN OF Triangle, VA along the Rt 1 a cpl years ago it was so bad.

Rt 1 is the Baltic Ave of the East Coast if you arent in Key West, pretty much...........

All the losers seem to end up on route one.

If you look close while sitting in traffic you can see many mobile home parks alive and kicking.

Who knew?

Route one will never change.

Plus it gives the beaners a place to live.

Shit hangs around rt 1 because it's the asshole of the county (really both counties). Seriously, I think that rt 95 took a lot of business away from rt 1, so businesses had to close up, homes went vacant, etc. Hoodbridge and surrounding areas can be less than desireable, but they're nothing compared to inner cities such as Memphis, the Bronx or Crooklyn, most of the southern half of PG county, SE DC, Camden NJ, parts of Charleston and North Charleston SC, etc. It's the sheltered rednecks that lived around cows and corn their whole life who drive through an area where no one looks like them and automatically assume that it's crime ridden and full of undesireables.

+1

There are actually parts of Lake Ridge, Westridge that are pretty nice. Some of the older sections are not that great, but I have visited people that live there and some of the neighborhoods would be really nice to raise a family. I couldn't live that far out, but some people don't seem to mind.

The commute would suck ass though.

Woodbridge is WAY better than NOVA. Not NEARLY as many assholes. I grew up in Clifton, moved out after college in Richmond & then lived off Route 1 between PWPkwy & 123.. after 1 year I moved to Fairfax City. I regret it like shit. People in this area cant drive. And they all think they are better than you. Calm down dude, its a 4CYL '99 Automatic Mustang. I dont care how clean it is. You're a douche. like everyone else here.. Not AT ALL worth the rent.

I was born-n-raised in Fairfax County and have lived in Woodbridge for 16 years. You'll find good and bad anywhere you move. My plan at the time was to only be in Woodbridge for a couple of years. My decision to stay was due to the fact that I didn't want to remove my children from their schools. They did indeed all graduate in PWC, received a good education and are doing well for themselves.
The nicer areas are Potomac Club, Belmont Bay, Lake Ridge, West Ridge ( as was mentioned before), new home communities off Rt. 1 down by Walmart and homes off of 234 and the Hoadly Road area. I would not consider Horner Road or Gordon Blvd. They've run down in the past few years. The Veteran's Park area off of Featherstone Road ... down by the water by the park, nice people live down there, but they are very old homes ... not sure if you're looking for new. Featherstone Road ... the road going down to the park has a lot of housing, Single Family homes called "The State Streets" and the Townhouses -- "Willowbrook", are overrun with drugs. If you have children that are in high school, I would stay clear of Freedom High School. A fairly new school with a very bad reputation.

The comments on here are 99% ridiculous! I grew up in Springfield and have been living in Triangle for the last 5 years. I have 3 kids. There are tons of great neighborhoods in Woodbridge and Dumfries as well....and right off of rt. 1! Port Potomac, Eagles Point, Southbridge, Potomac Shores, all the brand new neighborhoods are nice. If you follow Cardinal towards Dale City there are lots of nice neighborhoods including Montclair. There are plenty of VRE stops and slug lots, great restaurants, shopping. If anyone is looking to move here don't listen to these racist idiots! The entire northern VA area is multi racial and multi cultural, and so what, that's a good thing!
If you are thinking of moving or relocating here email me privately and I can give you real information.

I graduated from college, so I guess poor people can succeed. I love everybody poor or rich. I however have I know one thing trash can be found in both rich neighborhoods and poor ones. And yes I grew up in a trailer park, and I'm ok with that. My grandfather was an Engineer with IBM and retired from there. My family has both rich and poor people in it. However, I am an adult child of an alcoholic and my Dad left us with nothing when I was very young. My childhood was rough, but an abused child isn't a "prostitute"

Wow a photoshopped picture of me with the steering wheel on the wrong side. I am not a drug dealer or suffered consequences from this picture and I'm 35 years old. A note was taped to my car with a link to Fairfax Underground where this pic is here on several pages for solicitation of prostitution. But, I'm going to go to the cops and get this taken care of.

I am a single mother and I did a pretty good job with my 16 year old son.

The "State Streets" Near Featherstone are not as bad as some people make it out to be.
I will admit some years ago all I would notice was the "bad" such as the few cars that speed up and down the streets and the few people that parked half a dozen cars in the yards.
After living here for some years I know not to let the few ruin the good in my community. Anywhere you live you will find things that bother you but all I see are the positives.
In my community we see a lot are families (of many cultures) trying to better the homes they live in. Families and couples tend to take walks or go jogging from morning to even late at night. It is pretty quite on my street until one or two neighbors try to speed around the neighborhood in sports cars or trucks as if it were a race. We have neighbors with kids that play outside and ride bikes (I even at times see the parents with them too). All in all for a young family starting out or even a first time home owner it has been a good affordable experience. I will admit one day my husband and I do plan on moving when our careers pick up but for now this is good.
