Merge Lanes

What is the law on all these 2 lane roads that merge into 1 ? There is no merge or yield signs. If some jackass whips into the side of me from the lane that ends who gets the ticket ?

You both do because your responsibility to avoid a collision doesn't stop just because you may have the right away. You still have to avoid a collision by driving defensively and if that means yielding your “right of way†to an idiot, that's what you have to do. I have seen too many people refuse to slow or back off from an aggressive driver and that too contributes to the accident.

Look at the merge pattern on the sign. Plus, before getting to the sign, there should be a sign indicating something to the order of: "Left lane ends, Merge Right". In those cases, it's the responsibility of the driver in the left lane to allow you (in the right lane) the right-of-way.

Two days in a row (yesterday and today) I've had someone fly up along the side of me, almost hitting me, trying to get ahead right at the point of merging into the one lane. Ticks me off, but figure "good lord, if it's that damn important to you to get one car length in front of me, then go right ahead idiot." Backed off, rather than getting smashed.

You must be talking about balls ford rd which then turns to devlin at wellington rd.
