Thinking of moving to manassass park

Hey new to the area. Just got a semi remote long term job where I go into DC once a week and was trying to find a place to get a townhome. I have a wife and kid. Is the manassass park area safe? Or should I look elsewhere?

took a drive by the development site. I see what other people were talking about the dozens of old broken down tire shops. Not really nice to look at. However after I drove past them and got to the new development site the neighborhood didn't look to bad.

If anyone else has some extra insight on the manassas dr / signal view drive area it would be appreciated

Is your job in fast food industry ? If you have any other job you should be able to live anywhere else but Manassas.

clearly someone still lives at home with mom

manassas park is a hideous shithole but it's not unsafe. unless you're mixing it up with the young vatos you'll be fine.

I make 80 grand a year working in the tech industry and my wife is an RN. Could we afford a mc-mansion in cashburn? Sure but if one of us lost our jobs we would be screwed.

We are looking at townhomes in the low to mid 300s so one of us puts our entire paycheck into savings while the other pays for the mortgage / kid / food. Couples buying a home that requires 2 jobs 2 pay is what caused the financial crisis.

I dropped by again today and it didn't look too bad, as long as we stay out of the older western part of manassas park it looks decent.

The good news is it looks like all the new development is pricing the mexicans / rednecks out of the area.

Gentrification ftw.

Any other input would be greatly appreciated, ill probably go on some more day / night time patrols of the area for a few weeks before making a decision.

I live close by this development. It's nice and I know some nice people that live there. It is safe, you are close to shopping and dining with old town and stuff on Liberia Rd. The downside is that the schools are not so good, simply the name Manassas Park scares the people you want want as neighbors away. If you ever have to commute North on 28, it is a nightmare. I would pay the premium and buy in Fairfax if I could go back in time.

Try finding something in Manassas, not Manassas Park or the City of Manassas. It's a little more rural, but gives some distance and safety from the gang riffraff.
