Loudoun County Sheriff-elect Mike Chapman was sworn in Friday surrounded by his family and friends.
The oath was administered by county Clerk of Court Gary Clements at the Loudoun County Courthouse .
Liz Mills, Chapmanās campaign manager, said the sheriff-elect participated in an early swearing in ceremony so his friends and family, many who are in town for the Thanksgiving holiday, could attend.
Chapman, a Republican, will be sworn in in public on Jan. 1, when he will officially take office.
The sheriff-elect on Nov. 8 beat four term incumbent Steve Simpson, an independent.
Chapman will hold a victory party at 7 p.m. tonight at the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue building, Station 1, 215 Loudoun St., Leesburg.
